  2. The Kings have bought out the final two years of defenseman Dion Phaneuf's contract, the team announced Saturday. At one time a premier defenseman in the NHL, Phaneuf, 34, appeared in 67 games for Los Angeles this past season and set personal lows in plus-minus (minus-21) and time on ice (15:00). He was acquired by the Kings from the Senators late in the 2017-18 season. He had four goals and 12 assists in 93 games with the Kings. He has 137 goals and 357 assists over his 14-year NHL career.

  4. Trump also continues to claim his own campaign was spied on.
  5. College World Series: Michigan 5 Texas Tech 3.
  6. New Orleans Pelicans have trade forward Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers for point guard Lonzo Ball, forward Brandon Ingram, shooting guard Josh Hart, and three first round draft choices.
  7. Gary Woodland leads after the third round of the U.S. Open at -11.
  8. Cleveland 4 Detroit 2. Defensive mistakes by Detroit - A failure by Cristin Stewart to throw to the cutoff man on a flyball, Nicholas Castellanos got turned around on a flyball in the fourth. Castellanos also failed to field a carom that resulted in a double, a poor throw by Stewart to allow Leonys Martin to advance to third. A straight steal of home with a righthander on the mound. Detroit also ran itself into an inning ending double play in the seventh. The defense allowed two other stolen bases, one after they had a runner picked off first. Detroit hitters continued to swing at pitches out of the strike zone and watched fastballs sail by for called third strikes.
  9. Pittsburgh has traded defenseman Olli Maata to Chicago for Dominik Kahun and a fifth round pick in this year's draft.
  10. Olli Maatta traded to Chicago for Kahun and a 5th rounder... not a big asking price to acquire a 2nd-pairing D man. Based on that, there might be hope that we can grab a similar player for a cheap trade cost. You look at Gostisbehere (who is better), Ryan Murray (who is pretty comparable to Maatta with an extensive injury history and who was rumored to be a target for Chicago too), Nick Leddy, Matheson, etc... maybe the return we'd have to give up would not end up being as high as some of us worried.

  12. Tampa Bay has re-signed defenseman Cameron Gaunce to a one year two way contract.
  13. Buffalo has named Son Granato assistant coach and Mike Bales goalie coach and retained assistant coach Steve Smith.
  14. Is Bergevin finally learning from his mistakes or will he mess this up?
  15. Trump has now said he would notify the FBI depending what information he got from foreign governments. Nothing like trying to cover your tracks.
  16. Golden State forward Klay Thompson tore an ACL in the Warriors' Game 6 loss to Toronto.
  17. Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen has died at 75. Bowlen won three Super Bowls as owner and was the first to win 300 games.
  18. Right now we are in good shape. we had a solid comeback year where we saw some players develop and some good trades. we are finally solid at center not super star solid but quite good. Price played much better and we had some players step up on D. we have some weak spots on special teams but this off season should help that out. our main weak points remain first pairing LHD and a very solid backup goalie not some guy in development but a real deal guy we can count on!. we have i think 10 draft picks and plenty of quality forwards we could package to fix things so lets see what our glorious leadership group come up with in the next week or two........if they mange to get this right we could be a dead solid team this year.
  19. Gary Woodland leads in the third round of the U.S. Open at -9. He was scheduled to tee off at 2:45 P.M. Eastern time.
  20. Cleveland 13 Detroit 4. Detroit starter Ryan Carpenter failed to adjust to Cleveland batters in keeping pitches on the outside edge and not coming inside. That and defensive lapses by Detroit resulted in an eight run fourth inning in which Cleveland sent 13 batters to the plate. Two more mistakes were sent into the seats. Detroit hitters were either late on fastballs or chasing pitches out of the strike zone. Carpenter has been optioned to Toledo.
  21. Los Angeles has bought out Dion Phaneuf.
  22. Philadelphia has placed defenseman Andrew MacDonald on waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.
  23. Our Prime Apologist apologizes to everyone but Canadians.
  24. "Yea, we won, now lets go and destroy something that taxpayers will have to pay for."
  25. Ghost isn't even a #1 on Philly , Drouin and Shaw for a 3-4 pairing defenseman? IMO that's an over payment yes #11 draft would be nice , but probably not an immediate help. Shaw or Druoin for Ghost maybe or Shaw or Drouin + a prospect or our #15.
  26. Yeah probably I forgot they just got Niskinen
  27. TBH, Drouin and Shaw for Ghost and 11 is a win for both teams
  28. Yeah, i think Weber could fetch a decent return (Alzner is negative value of course) but I dont see Philly paying anywhere near that much. They seem to believe they're solid on D - so they are much more likely to want a forward in return for Ghost. I think if MB was to move Weber (and the chances of that, imho are like 0.2%) then the best choice is a western conference team like Edmonton. I really think its unlikely we move any of our top 6 dmen to be honest. I think MB wants to add but doesnt want to lose any that he's got. And honestly we have like 14 nhl caliber forwards + Suzuki and Poehling.. if there's a surplus to trade, its up front.
