  16. Oakland 7 Detroit 2. Daniel Norris began leaving pitches over the plate in the fifth and surrendered two home runs, both with a man on. Jacoby Jones compounded the problem by turning a single into a two base error. That preceded Chad Pinder's home run in the sixth. Detroit also had problems turning double plays which allowed a run to score. Also credit the A's with alert baserunning. Detroit continued to struggle at the plate getting only four hits in having trouble with fastballs and splitters once again.

  20. I put this here because he's as much a Hab as anyone. I remember him. Worked with 11 coaches from 1962 to 1999 — starting with Toe Blake and ending with Alain Vigneault — and watched team win 12 Stanley Cups. Former Canadiens doctor Douglas Kinnear dies peacefully at age 92.
