  1. Ryder and Higgins were ideal circumstances? Hypothesize for a moment if with a faux first liner in Michael Ryder, accompanied by a third line checker at best Koivu amounted 75 points, what would his productivity have been centering Brian Gionta and Patrik Elias, Alex Tanguay and Alex Kovalev or Mike Cammalleri and Brian Gionta; actual first line caliber players. Is the assumption Saku Koivu could produce a season high similar or perhaps superior to that of Scott Gomez had he been allotted the same favor the aforementioned is now? Contract wise, who was to believe Koivu would centre fringe players, a majority of whom held absolutely no business upon our first line (Latendresse, Higgins)? Additionally it shall remain my belief Saku's contract accommodated significantly more than his on ice production. His leadership quality, continued support toward the city of Montreal, perhaps even his dedication to the sport itself.
  2. Ryder was nothing beyond a fringe first line player who twice listed thirty goal seasons exact. He is in essence what is presently absent from the Habs roster; secondary scoring. Additionally his style of in nary complimented Saku due to a leisurely pace and with whom was in acceptance of the left winger role? Latendresse, Higgins primarily; where upon in Ryder Koivu possessed something of talent, such truth was distant for his additional linemates. Provided with talent Koivu transfixed the league, evident by his short tenure with Tanguay and Kovalev with which took nigh the entirety of the season because held in consideration for a lineup. I wholeheartedly agree with Weep, Gainey appeased Gomez whilst leaving Koivu to play with faux first liners; an utter disgrace...
  3. Markov may be quiet however he would lead by example, to coin the cliche: "Actions speak louder than words" JR also makes a good point, the media can heckle a guy like Markov all they want, he still will not response and I imagine it would drive them to the breaking point of insanity, which could be extremely entertaining.
  4. First and foremost, this is not, I repeat not an insinuation that Koivu is in any way a bad captain or should given up captaincy. I am merely curious that with the possibility of them signing elsewhere this off season, who you believe should replace him as captain. I understand Kovalev, Komisarek, Lang and Tanguay could all leave as well however for argument sake let us assume it was only Koivu and possibly Lang who did not resign. Personally, I without a shadow of a doubt believe the honor should be Markov's. I am amazed he is not even an assistant captain and unless I am completely unaware of why he shouldn't be, I believe he has earned the title. Not only is Markov our best player, he is one of most hard working, consistent and passionate. The team was utterly lost without him and while he may not be as vocal, he allows his stick to do the motivating. Lang, if he remained with us is another I would recommend because he remains me of another Koivu, someone who motivates the youth in our organization, who passes on words of wisdom and is a work hard, despite his age. Kovalev is a possibility as well however my concern derives from his inconsistency, which is why I favor Markov over Kovalev myself.
  5. I have been listening to the following songs for the last three days... Melodies of Life - Final Fantasy IX Radical Dreamers - Chrono Cross Luna's Boat Song - Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete Lucia's Theme - Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete Suteki da Ne - Final Fantasy X Eyes on Me - Final Fantasy VIII Small Two of Piece - Xenogears Probably will add 1000 Words from FFX-2 to that list sometime.
  6. I agree he does not need to motivate them, he needs to discipline them. I am extremely impressed with Ron Wilson's approach in dealing with the Leafs. You play terrible, you do not play. Simple, straightforward and it sends the message poor performance will not be tolerated. If I were him I would bench the following and either run without them for a game or make the call to Hamilton. Plekanec and Komisarek - replaced with Chipchura and one of Boullion, Dandenault, Brisebois. O'Byrne - Sent down to the minors and replaced with a rookie who might actually play without costing us. Such drastic measures need not be done against a team like Detroit or New York. We can take advantage of playing a low end team and make such a statement; either you play up to your capabilities or you can spent time collecting Gatorade for those who do.
