  1. This is the best thing that could happen in Chipchura's case. He got an opportunity when Metropolit was injured, and he's starting to gain in confidence. We are always criticizing the Habs' drafts and while it is true that drafting Chipchura in the 1st round was a critical mistake, it is real good to seem him starting to pan out as an NHL player. This being said, he must never take his spot on the team for granted, as players like him are a dime a dozen, and he is far from talented enough to keep playing in this league without superior effort. Look at SK for the example NOT to follow.
  2. Well, I wouldn't call 45% (5 for 11) very good, but rather somewhat decent. But he did go 3 for 5 against Drury, which is impressive.
  3. His best game ever in a Habs uniform. Keep it up Kyle, this is the right path.
  4. Well, choosing a youngster over a veteran can make sense when the youngster is equal or mostly equal with the veteran. Chipchura is not remotely close to that.
  5. Last chance, Chips, make the best of it, it's going to be better for everyone; including you, the team, the fans, youppi... Not that I can think he can steal Metropolit's job, as I don't remember Chips displaying anything remotely close to Metro's speed-grit-skill combination. Chips can at least fight for the thirteenth forward job, as there will be competition for it 'till the end of the season as callups will happen.
  6. I'd go with a leader and a hard-worker, personally, as I won't ever suggest to name a newly-acquired free agent to be named in captaincy position. So either Lapierre or Hamrlik. I don't think Markov is vocal enough to do the job. And there are no other long-serving candidates that pops up to my mind. Unfortunately, I think Gomez will be the one, in the end... meh.
  7. Keep them reports coming, Fred, I like this prospect
  8. I wouldn't go as far as to say wow, but I find it hard to use this 18 yo rookie season as a knock against him. I may not have that many virtues, but patience I have in store.
  9. I am not too discouraged by Trunev's stats in the KHL this year. He's 18, and already playing in this league. This is already telling for his future. Not many 18 yo are playing in the first division of Russian hockey, just as only the stars do it on a regular basis in the NHL. I believe he's under contract for one more year with Severstal Cherepovets. This second year should be more telling.
  10. As a newcomer to baseball, I had no previous attachment to any team, chose the Devil Rays as I saw the David vs Goliath (salary mass, overall publicity around the series) matchup for this series, and I'm kind of happy now. This seventh game was a good show even for I, who is new to the game so I guess it was a good advertisement for the sport in general. Good game, really.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets to Hamilton as soon as next year. I heard that school isn't much his thing and that he could be a quick-learner on the ice. I sure hope so.
