  1. Can we discuss other non-habs related things like ... pie or cake?
  2. You have a choice but that choice is not free from consequence. It is NOT a view or opinion when that "view or opinion" is demonstrably wrong. Science, medicine, statistics and facts all show vaccines (and the Covid vaccine) are safe and effective .. so by all means, choose not to get one but that choice will exclude you from society. No different than choosing to smoke ... smoke outside if you want to smoke
  3. Exactly. The wife and I were discussing it on the eve of the election ... and at this point if you're unvaccinated without a valid medical reason (and I'm hard pressed to find info on what that valid reason would be) then it's just selfish willful ignorance
  4. Yeah didn't bother to look it up ... guessed it was in the 100s of millions at the least
  5. We're 18 months into a pandemic, a year since the Vaccine rolled out ... millions of doses world wide ... so Vaccine hesitancy isn't a legitimate excuse anymore. If you're failing to get vaccinated its a willful choice to be disingenuously ignorant in the face of overwhelming proof that it is safe, effective and needed. Not to mention the right thing to do.
  6. The only valid reason would be medical ...and that reason is rare to almost non-existant.
  7. Its a Vaccination and there is no legimate good excuse to not have gotten it yet, period. You are free to choose not to get it but that choice, like any choice in life, comes with consequences and benefits. If Ylonen is showing himself to be a science denying antivaxxer then yes, trade him. Its time we stopped tolerating people who want to ignore facts and try and twist it into a "difference of opinion". It's not an opinion if its demonstrably wrong. Period.
  8. Ettedgui is ... well I got nothing nice to say about that waste of human breath
  9. Fighting is almost gone in the NHL but ... Paquette, Savard, Edmundson, Poehling, theres a few big boys on the team now besides Anderson. Chiarot isn't even known for fighting ... According to Hockeyfights.com, Chiarot has had nine fights in his 400 career regular-season games in the NHL, including four this past season. So outside of the 4 he had last season, he had 5 in the previous 7 seasons Paquette has had 10 fights in 5 seasons Edmundson has had 10 in 5 seasons I mean Chiarot's fighting ability is not a factor I'd base keeping him on
  10. Ok seeing those forward lines now on paper, I'm a little less choked about losing KK ... offensively we've improved a lot, even if you ignore any potential that KK had a breakout year. Defenisvely ... well, maybe its not as bad as it looks as Weber was terrible for the most part last year and Savard can't be anyworse. Its Chiarot that's the problem, they need to trade him and stick to Kulak and Romanov.
  11. Ok here's my take on the lines Ducharme will likely debut with Drouin - Suzuki - Caufield Hoffman - Dvorak - Gallagher Toffoli - Evans - Anderson Perreault - Paquette - Armia Extra : Lehkonen, Poehling On D (and this is where it gets sad) Edmundson - Petry Chiarot - Savard Romanov/Kulak - Wideman Extra : Either Romanov or Kulak. There is zero chance Wideman and Chiarot sit. MB just signed Wideman and they over value Chiarot
  12. You're forgetting Wideman ... so we likely see him over Roamov/Norlinder anyways
  13. Do we have projected lines anywhere yet?
  14. Yup outside of the top 3 ... the next 4 picks we're all a mystery. Most thought Zadina would go 3rd, but like you say Ted a lot had us picking KK (who if we didn't pick him all predicted would go 5th). KK being the top rated Center and our obvious need at the time (predating the NS trade). And what's funny, if we'd picked Zadina would we have been that far ahead from KK? 6g13a in 49games this past season for him. I think many are over valuing Tkachuk because he came into a team where he was thrust into the top 6 whether he was ready or not. KK on the other hand was slotted in the bottom 6 from the start. Hindsight is awesoe, and maybe Tkachuk performs as well or better on the Habs playing the same role ... but we did not have an organizational need at the time. If we were picking a winger Zadina was projected as that guy, Hughes as the D and KK as the C with all three being roughly valued the same.
  15. Still choked they let KK go ... the only way this gets salvaged is if somehow Poehling out develops his expectations Suzuki - Dvorak - Poehling - Evans, if Poehling can turn into a 40ptish strong two-way guy is fine. I think KK has a break out year, and puts up decent numbers now that he's away from the toxic management so its going to take a bit more from Dvorak/Poehling to take that sting off. What galls me still is that we potentially had 1st and 2nd C locked up for the next decade in NS and KK ... and in the year we let Danault walk, we get blindside by the Canes offer. This is the Aho offer coming back to to bite MB plain and simple. Without that offer we likely sign KK to a reasonable "Show me" bridge deal.
  16. My take ... is if Dvorak replaces Danault ... that still leaves a hole at C. We lost KK and Danault ... and replaced it with Dvorak (for Danault) and Paquette/Evans/Poehling for KK That's a downgrade in roster regardless of your arguements for Dvorak's worth vs Kotkaniemi Suzuki / KK / Evans / Poehling looks better to me on paper if KK performs than Suzuki / Dvorak / Evans / Poehling
  17. Yup KK wanted to be here, but the Habs through their actions and inactions showed him they didn't value him at all
  18. Suzuki had a 20-25 game streak where he got no points, or at best 1-2 Assists total and Habs management just kept throwing him out there with the best wingers ... so yeah, no it wasn't Kotkaniemi's indifferent play it was managements bizarre treatment of its young players
  19. There is no scenario where losing Kotkaniemi for Dvorak improves us They ran a young player out of town through mismanagement, devaluing and misusing him. Dvorak is and will only ever be a 3rd line center ... he's 25 and realistically has hit his cieling.
  20. When it comes to MB I firmly believe every "good move" was pure dumb luck on his part ... he's shown consistently he has no plan or vision for this team beyond muddle through with some whack job idea that "all you need to do is squeek into the playoffs" Caufield as the example ... it was dumb luck that 14 other teams passed on him when most scouts were very high on his talent.
  21. 1) He drafted Galchenyuk, then obliterated his value before finally trading him 2) Sergachev for Drouin ... enough said 3) Caufield ... he lucked out that nobody else took a chance on him and got him later in the draft. There is no wizardry here from MB 4) Suzuki ... again lucked out ... he wasn't even the player from VK he wanted 5) Petry ... again lucked out ... as an Edmonton resident, the Petry we got is NOT the Petry MB signed ... if we got Petry like he was with Oilers, you'd have all been angry 6) Romanov is a 2nd round pick who hasn't proved anything yete 7) We made the finals in the easiest division, in the easiest year to do so ... and got embrassed by TBay. In a normal year the Habs with our record and roster would not have made the playoffs, nevermind the finals With the offer sheet, if we fail to match and I suspect we don't match, we go from having potentially our 1C/2C sorted out and potentially not caring we lost Danault to hurting down the middle yet again. You don't just throw away big centers with offensive upside and shrug it off. Marc should have lost his job before this previous season, should have lost his job a few times now but Molson keeps him around. Now we're about to lose a top prospect in JK due to cap mismanagement and his own ego thinking his offer sheet to Aho was bullet proof.
  22. This comes down to MB mishandling his youth, mishandling his cap and lettting another team take advantage of both issues.
  23. Was he though? That's the entire issue ... Habs management played Eric "no longer elite" Staal over him in the playoffs in the last 2 games. They consistently dumped on KK, shuffled him around the lineup for struggling etc ... but then left Suzuki on the top line with top wingers for a 20 game stretch where he got no points. (reg season). I think from KK's perspective that even though the math pointed to him being 2C or 1B behind Suzuki there is strong evidence to show the Habs will willingly play an inferior product over you at times (Staal etc)
  24. It's hard to fly like an eagle when you're stuck with turkeys. You can put a liptstick on a pig but its still a pig. You keep sticking guys like Byron, Lehkonen, and the other plugs with KK and yeah, he can only make them look better so much. In the playoffs for example there were at least a dozen really great passes KK made to a guy with stones for hands who then proceeded to cough up the puck
