  1. Leave it to the Montreal Canadiens to be different
  2. Zac Ronaldo is not vaccinated . A requirement of being a blue jacket is that he be vaccinated .
  3. Red Wings Sign Bobby Ryan to PTO The Red Wings will give Bobby Ryan another look this season as the veteran forward has signed PTO. Part of the reason the Red Wings might not have signed him this offseason was that Ryan was limited to 33 games because of an injury. He played well in those 33 games (7 goals and 14 points), but there could be some concern about his reliability moving forward.
  4. Rinaldo Not Welcome to Blue Jackets’ Camp Aaron Portzline of The Athletic is noting that a source close to Zac Rinaldo tells The Athletic that the Columbus Blue Jackets made it clear to Rinaldo he wasn’t welcome at training camp. Everyone is awaiting an explanation from the club. It’s not clear if this is at all related to Ronaldo’s appearance in Canada at a PPC rally where he was making comments about vaccinations. He said: “I’m not anti-vax, I’m not anti-mask. I’m pro-choice.” Portzline adds “Explanation forthcoming from club in a few minutes when GM Jarmo Kekalainen and hockey operations staff address media.”
  5. Alex Galchenyuk has signed a PTO with the Coyotes.

  9. https://www.markerzone.com/news/index.php?no=56314&s=8 Amid rumours that the whole thing had been scrapped, both RDS and TVA in Quebec will be airing one-on-one interviews with Jonathan Drouin of the Montreal Canadiens Monday night. Drouin left the team mid-way through last season and did not return due to "personal reasons." There was a ton a of speculation as to why he made the decision, but Drouin had never spoken out on the reasons himself. In a teaser clip for the interview, which is in French, Drouin added some insight. He told Chantal Machabee of RDS that there were times he would go three consecutive nights without sleeping and then, in some cases, have to play back-to-back games. In the clip, he insisted that he never lost his passion for hockey and spent time watching games, sometimes six a night, before taking time off. Ultimately, he said he took time off to put his life in order and find a healthier pace, adding what he was doing just wasn't viable any longer. In a brief clip released by TVA Sports, Drouin told Renaud Lavoie he has suffered from both anxiety and insomnia.Drouin is attending training camp with the Montreal Canadiens and is expected to start the season with the team. We should know more about his reasons for his time away when the interviews air Monday night. The sit-down with RDS will be broadcast at 7:30 Quebec time, while TVA will air its interview at 8 PM.
  10. For some, Kotkaniemi has gone from being an up-and-coming, clutch top-six center to a player that will never amount to much of anything. For others, ex-Canadiens employees even, like former goaltending coach Stephane Waite, Kotkaniemi needs to mature… which, with Kotkaniemi being 21 and all, is kind of like saying Carey Price needs to stop the puck (or at least needed to a better job of it prior to Waite’s dismissal). Meanwhile, even though general manager Marc Bergevin obviously kept things professional when he announced the decision not to match the offer sheet, he certainly didn’t dispel that same notion with his comments. Bergevin: “When the games start, [coaches are] there to win a hockey game. When certain players don’t buy in or do what they’re asked, at some point a coach has to make a decision that’s best for the hockey team

  18. https://montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/nhl/hockey-inside-out/canadiens-carey-price-still-not-skating-after-having-knee-surgery Canadiens' Carey Price still not skating after having knee surgery "With any type of rehabilitation, you're never quite sure how long it's going to take," goalie says after having torn meniscus repaired. “I had a torn meniscus, they had to go in there and clean that up,” Price said. “I’ve been playing with that for a little while now. We wanted to take care of it and now I’m just trying to get back to health again. I feel pretty good. I haven’t skated yet. I’m just doing my rehab and making sure that I’m ready. “With any type of rehabilitation, you’re never quite sure how long it’s going to take,” Price added. “It’s a process that you take day by day. I’m going every day to Brossard (the team’s practice facility), doing all the things to get better. We’re talking about trying it out (by skating) soon, but you’ve got to make sure you’re ready to go when the time is right. “We’re doing exercises in the gym. You want to eliminate any of the guesswork when you jump on the ice and make sure there’s no risk of hurting yourself again. We had a long conversation with our doctors in Montreal before the operation, assessed the situation, and together we formulated a plan when to have the surgery and plan the rehab after it. There’s a lot of moving parts with our medical staff and our doctors but they all work together to make plans for our health, fitness and recovery.”
  19. https://awinninghabit.com/2021/08/28/montreal-canadiens-big-role-jake-evans/ Montreal Canadiens: Dominique Ducharme Has Big Role In Mind For Jake Evans Then came the part I found interesting as he clearly stated that Jake Evans can fill the void left by Phillip Danault.
  20. https://awinninghabit.com/2021/09/14/montreal-canadiens-better-offensively/ Montreal Canadiens Poised to be Much Better Offensively This Season
  21. Former Canadiens goaltending coach Stephane Waite made an appearance on the French radio station 98.5 FM last week and provided several insights, including his view on Phillip Danault testing the market and ultimately leaving Montreal. Waite also shared his take on why the Canadiens traded for Dvorak. Replaced Phillip (Danault) with a better player in Dvorak and I do believe Dvorak is there to replace Danault.” – Stephane Waite He went on to explain that a player like Jake Evans can provide much of what was lost with Danault leaving and that the coaching staff has confidence in him. While his opinions aren’t surprising, it does come from someone who was on the inside and can give some context as to why the Canadiens had set a maximum value on Danault, especially with the salary cap becoming an issue with other young players that will be needing contract extensions soon.
