  1. Pure speculation by a writer.

... who also added: " That could leave Drouin playing third line centre on a purely offensive line with Mike Hoffman and Josh Anderson."

Since when is the 3rd line a "purely offensive" one? These writers - I don't know ...

  2. Jonathan Drouin said he expects to play center for the Montreal Canadiens this season.

"It looks that way for sure," Drouin told the Montreal Gazette for a story published Monday. "I don't make those decisions, but that's where I played last year and I feel comfortable coming in this year and knowing that I'm playing center."

Did he actually play much center last season - or does he still have "issues"?

In past Olympics, the women's race was on the Sunday before the men's.  I looked at the TV listings and made a wrong assumption.

Yeah, there's usually (always?) a week between them.

Cam (Levins) just dropped off the lead pack - hopefully he's saving something to pick off others toward the end.

I wonder how hard it is on the athletes starting the marathon at 6am or a soccer game at 10pm etc.   I know they are probably all mixed up in time anyway but its gotta be tough on some of them!

A lot of them probably do their first run of the day around then.

  5. Track (and some field) Report, Part 2:

    - de Grasse ran the fastest time in the heats today (9.91 s.) The other 2 Canadians didn't make the cut.

Semi-finals (3) start at 6:15 AM (eastern) tomorrow with the final at 8:50 AM.

    - In the women's steeplechase heats (3) Genevieve LaLonde ran a Canadian record of 9:22:64 (5 s. off the old record)

in 37 C temperature and made it to the final. The other 2 failed to make the final, which is run on Aug. 4.

  6. Track (and some field) Report, Part 1:

    - Marco Arop looked good winning his 800 m. heat, in which he lead, basically, the whole way.

Brandon McBride didn't make it through.

    On to the semi...

    - Two men made it to the steeplechase final - John Gay and Matt Hughes.

    - Mo Ahmed finished 6th in the 10,000 m. He's also doing the 5,000 m. which is his better event - could medal.

100 m. heats are tomorrow - GO ANDRE!

There's 2 choices id like to make in the poll but i went with the most likely (#blamekinot).

I actually think we have a 50/50 chance of winning this one. I think if they get an early bounce, they might manage it.  I dont think we will win the series (although i hope we do!) but i do think we can win this game.

The interesting thing is that with some fans in the seats in game 6 we might actually have an advantage in that one... but i guess its time for all those old hockey cliches:

    - Its do or die
    - our backs are against the wall
    - we'll just go out & win one game at a time
    - there's no tomorrow
    - the fourth win is the most difficult

    Add your own.

    - We have not yet begun to fight!

    As in:

Leafs: We were wondering if you would like to surrender?

Habs: We have not yet begun to fight!

Leafs: That's why we were wondering.
