How and Where did you Meet a Hab Player?

European-Captain

my work permits me to see a few of our fellow hab players. I work in a high end clothing store and they get 10% off. today i served higgins. it was amazing. he bought jeans. yay. anyway, the best part is he had a random nose bleed (from the cold) and i got to tel lhim. it sounds wierd, but im a fanboy. wtv. he cleaned it up. garth was shopping with him. and maxim lapierre came after with his girlfriend. they chatted liek a happy family. Great guys, although maxim (or maxy as garth murray calls him) is sorta kinda arrogant. but i guess hes just happy hes in the lineup.

never met a player before but my sister is a hair dresser at a salon and she tells me that she has cut souray, dandenault and good old mikey ribiero's hair one time. another reason why i should be a hair dresser!!! i dont know how i would react if i met a habs player, i would probabley be humble and just tell them "good luck this season" or maybe shake there hand or something. I dont know im not a guy who is going to be all up in there face and asking for an auto graph or anything, they are real people just like you and me-as the commercial says;) it would be nice just to talk to one of them to see how life is playing hockey for the habs and whats going on behind the scenes with the team.

ryder, higgins and murray have been the nicest and souray has pretty much superstar written alloverhim. hes not really approachable but should you appraoch him, hes pretty cool about it. koivu is the most intimidating but that might be cause i love him to death.

ninima is frekin weird

emery, mcgrattan and a bunch ofthe other sens players are jerk offs. bunch of cheap *******s too.

My fiancé is good friends with Ribeiro... played AAA hockey and AAA baseball with him during their teen years... so before he got traded we hung out a bit. He's kind of arrogant, but not nearly *** much of an *** as the media made him seem. He's got a good heart and is VERY close with his family, but he does have a VERY big head.

I was also on the national alpine ski team for 5 years and actually got to TRAIN with Bouillon and Patrice Bergeron (bruins) at the PEPS at U of Laval. Their trainer worked with us that summer, and we did a couple of sessions together. Lets just say that I was so starstruck that I really messed up some of the exercises!!! ;) but Bouillon is one of the NICEST guys there is... he's got a HUGE heart and very down to earth. Got to see him again this summer as my fiancé coached a BB hockey team with JSH, and that was Bouillon's childhood team... every summer he hosts a golf tourney to raise money for the team so that parents don't have to pay for their kids during the season. This summer, he didn't play since he was coming back from knee surgery, but still came out. You could visibly see that he was still in pain even just standing up, but he never refused a picture or cut a conversation short.

Either way, that's my story!!! :)

Being from Regina, Saskatchewan, I know Garth Murray (my eldest son played Pee Wee and Bantam hockey here in town!). However, I met him this last off-season at a local Canadian Tire store. He was dressed in Canadiens garb (golf shirt, shorts and cap), so I just introduced myself, being a huge Habs fan! His demeanour and willingness to talk hockey was unbelievable! He remembered playing hockey with my son, even asking what he was doing now! I mentioned how impressed with his play I was in the playoffs. He took no personal accolades; just said thanks and that it was a dream playing for an organization like Montreal! He said New York just didn't allow him the chances that Montreal had given him, and was very excited about the season coming up! All in all. he was a very humble and professional athlete that took the time to talk hockey!

I was in Pittsburgh last season and saw Canadiens vs Penguins. ( The game Sindey scored the penalty on Theo ) We stayed at the same hotel as the Canadiens we had no idea! It started in the elevator I didnt recognise Huet, I thought I just saw another Canadien fan. ( He had a blue bag with the Canadiens logo ) So I asked: Canadien fan? And he said: No player actully. My mind went blank! I just stood there like a fool! Then he said Huet golie. I was so embarrest but he haden´t actully played that much so.... Well no excuse I didn´t feel so good. I couldn´t talk I was soo stuned. Then he left and I went upp to get my Jersey, went down to the reception and got a pen. Me and my girlfriends brother stood there and waited for the team. And they all showed:) Coach Julien was talking alot to the group and I didn´t want to disterb. But Theo, Zednik, Souray, Rivet and Ribeiro signed my jersey ( Only Souray is still in the team now ) All the guys was nice but I talk mostly to Souray. I Told him I came all the way from Sweden to watch this game and he was like: Really? Sweden was nice ( He played there during the lockout ) Well I hope you guys enjoy the game.

That was one of the greatest times of my life. After that Huet started to play like a nr 1 golie. Maby it´s because a Canadien fan didn´t recognise im in the elevator;)

well souray's hair is wicked! ahha...

I live in calgary so I've never met any of the Habs, I've seen a few flames players...

The worst was when I saw the loser leafs at mynt nightclub in calgary, I almost got kicked out because I was lipping them off so badly, domi was a douche, o'neal looked like an umpalumpa, and tucker looked like a 16 year old... the only one with decency was sundin.

I used to live in Montreal many, many years ago. I attended a playoff game with my father. The result of the game was not pretty. I don't remember much, I just remember The Forum booing Patrick Roy out of the building.

Anyway, I met a couple of guys after the game:

Spelling may not be accurate.

Sergio Mamesso

Stephane Richer - I remember this one because it was the playoff between Boston when he got slashed and broke his hand or wrist. When I met him he said he couldn't sign my book because of the broken hand, but he could shake my hand.

The Rocket Richard - I met him after the game with my father. He was surounded by a bunch of goons and my father went in and asked him to sign my program. Richard tried to sign the program but because it was so cold out I guess it was effecting the pen. Richard couldn't get the pen to work so he just threw it at my dad and said he didn't have time for this. I was too young to really know what was going on but my dad always tells me how angry he was and he had some choice words for Richard.

I think that was it.

The first time I saw a game at the bell my friend and I bought ourselves away jerseys (back when they were the red ones) and got all painted up a la blue blanc rouge. We bought wigs, made signs, well the whole 9 yards.. anyway we had a blast and after the game (Habs won)we were a little on the tipsy side. Not being from Montreal we decided to wait a while before driving home. There was a trio of busses outside loading up people from Toronto who were visiting the city and went to the game. It was pretty funny, they asked us to get on the bus and were taking pictures with us and everything. Anyway, after having completed our 3 bus tour we turned and my buddy said ''hey man check out the nice S.U.V. I turned and said ''No dude check out who is driving it''. Just as I said that Shayne Corson stuck his head out and said ''Looking good guys! Looking good!'' I just had a short conversation with him, told him I appreciated the entertainement, wished him a great season and asked him when he would be back on the ice (remember when he got suspended for hitting an opposing player in the dressing room area). Anyway it was a GREAT evening. The thing that surprised me the most was the size of Shaynes hands, I have pretty big hands and his dwarfed mine when I shook it. Made me think I wouldn't want to fight him on the ice! ;)

My story happened like 9 years ago.

I was studying at the University of Montreal and one of my best friend at that time was a bouncer in a club. One day, he called me. Ask me what i was doing that night. Told him : Nothing.

He asked me if i wanted to go in a private party. The thing was that the Canadiens decided to do a private party in the club where he was working and he could invite a friend to the party. He knew i was a big fan. I almost cried.

At this time the players were Richer, Damphousse, Quintal, Thorton, Theo , Koivu, Rechi, etc...

I had a blast. No coaching staff or the media was allowed a that party.

Im not going to tell all the things that happended that night, but ill say that i played a game of pool with Koivu and Rechi, there were a lot of nice girls and that i felt like living in a dream.

Sorry for my bad english.

Thats my story.

just to add to someones post about some of the leafs being jerks at the club they were at i can say i met mr tucker and he was a jerk. truly. i asked for an autograph, he rudely refused. i came back to where i was sitting and my manager ( iwas at work, i worked at a huge arena in toronto where many pros train, ice gardens if ur from TO) being young busty and blonde chased him down, and got him to sign like 4 different things, which he did happily while staring blatantly at her bust. i didnt even keep his worthless sig.

ANYWAY i went to that hall of fame signing this year, so i met everyone on the current edition except higgins and bouillon (injured at the time) impressions: souray johnson and ryder were especially nice and communicative, id say johnson was actually the most notably nice guy out of everyone. me and my friend i went with made a point to tell huet he was the man and he was the true number 1 (this was when both guys were playing equal amounts at the beginning of the year)....aebischer was like 2 guys over so he must have heard the whole thing so we felt bad afterwards....ironically aebi got pulled his next 2 starts and huet took over and started his march to being named an allstar. so totti....you and i both can take a lot of credit for huets great play as hab lol!! finally id have to say kovalev has the aura of a movie star, best dressed....calmest demeanor.....lol didnt get very much time in so thats all i can bring back to the forum here. johnsons the nicest and kovy has the nicest clothes ;)

I've been fortunate to have met many Habs players (mostly from the 70's and 80's).

Guy Lafleur lived close to my home soccer field and I'd see him often washing his car and he's sign my soccer ball, shirt anytime I asked. Very nice and polite!

I played golf with Claude Lemieux and his bro Jocelyn. Claude was incredibly nice but he and Jocelyn like to bother one another! He even bought me dinner after!

I met many Habs in the late 80's when I work at a record store in Beaconsfield. The coolest being Ryan Walter.

I taught at a ski school where Mats Naslund and Chris Nilan's kids took lessons.. Both of them were very appoachable. Nilan is one of the kindest guys (off the ice). Loved his accent!

I had a nice chat with Larry Robinson when he had his book signing for :"for The Defence". Also met him playing golf. Super guy!

The Habs used to hold their annual golf tounament at Summerlea where I was a member growing up so I got to meet many players including (Carbonneau, Gainey, Napier, Langway, Shutt, Robinson, Mondou, Nilan, Tremblay, Lambert, Engblom etc...

As I said, I've been lucky....

my dad was drivnig his car in Lachine in the early 80's and it was a bad snow storm and someone was stuck and next thing he notices is a black car pull and out steps Larry Robinson in cowboy boots and he helps the guy get out. And he said a few weeks later he was working at Steinbergs Grocery working as a cashier and Robinson came threw his section with grocerys.

I remember meeting Thibault at a signing thing and I new Benoit Brunets cousin and I met him a few times he was a nice guy.

I saw Mark Streit in a resturaunt on de la Montagne street, i was screaming his name, he looked up, i felt proud.

When i was younger i met the entire habs team at dorval airport when we picked up my mom. Met the whole team the time of Shane Corson and all those guys. I didnt have a camera so Koivu wrote me a message on my cap and gave me a hug haha. He's super nice. He approached me cause he saw talkin to other players for autographs. I talked to him for a bit i think he thought i was crazy, i was yound probably didnt know what i was saying.

Shane Corson lost his bags too, it was funny

In the late 80's I met John Kordic in a restaurant in Edmonton where he signed some stuff for me and was one of the humblest and nicest guys I have ever met. Later in the 90's I met Turner Stevenson, Chris Murray and David Wilkie at a movie and they were not the nicest at all. All three did not have much of a personality. I never badgered them for anything other that a quick signature and they were pretty rude.

I meant Jan Bulis ;)

This summer, I went to Armenia.

& on our way back from Czech (pit stop) to Montreal, he was on our plane.

I noticed him waiting in the room where you wait to board & passed by him while I was going through first class. Only one of my friends got a picture and autograph, after that the flight attendant told us he didn't want to be disturbed or something like that.

Anyway, it was Jan Bulis.. it's still a Hab :)

Amen to that!

I met Darren Langdon at the golf course in Deer Lake (unfortunately I wasn't golfing at the time), lol. I also see him play at Deer Lake Red Wings games.
