Detroit 9 Minnesota 6.  Detroit's bullpen outlasts Minnesota when they were able to make pitches when they needed to with the exception of Bruce Rondon who got the first out in the eighth without any difficulty then put enough pitches over the plate to allow the Twins to cut the lead to 6-5.  Shane Green pitched out of a bases load jam in the seventh allowing an inherited runner though he was victimized by a fielding error by Ian Kinsler.  Defensive miscues by the Twins in the second, including two on one play allowed Kinsler to score - the catcher for allowing a poor throw to get by him and the pitcher for a poor throw that should have gotten Kinsler at the plate.

Kansas City 5 Detroit 3, 12 innings.  Consecutive mistakes in the top the 12th give the Royals the win.  Drew Ver Hagen surrendered home runs in the 12th and a hanging curve ball in the sixth by Justin Verlander accounted for the longballs.  Verlander contributed a wild pitch in the fourth led to a second run in the fourth.  Outside of a three sixth, Detroit hitters did very little, getting only two hits against the Royals bullpen.
