Atlanta 5 Detroit 3.  Atlanta is able to wear down Detroit's bullpen for three runs after starter Jordan Zimmerman pitched four innings allowing only three hits.  But one of those was a hanging slider that found the seats in the fourth to account for Atlanta's first two runs.  Detroit also hurt itself swinging at pitches out of the strike zone and missed a chance in the eighth with the bases loaded and no outs.  Miguel Cabrera swung at a slider out of the zone for strike three and Dansby Swanson turned J. D. Martinez's hard smash into an inning ending double play.  Victor Martinez's one hop liner was turned into the final out of the game.

Atlanta 1 Detroit 0.  Julio Teheran combines with two relievers to shut down Detroit on five hits getting hitters to chase pitches out of the strike zone and making a first inning sacrifice fly stand up.  Detroit missed a first and second chance in the second inning on a strike out and a line out.  In the eighth, with a runner at second, Ian Kinsler lined into a double play.  Detroit finished the season watching two pitches cross the strike zone.  This was a team that was too reliant on the longball and could not manufacture runs.  Pitching and hitting were inconsistent all season.
