Today marks the 50th anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain scoring 100 points in a game while playing with the Philadelphia Warriors. In that game won by the Warriors over the New York Knicks 169-147, Chamberlain made 36 of 63 field goal attempts and 28 of 32 free throws. Amazing when you realize he was a career 50% free throw shooter. Chamberlain would average 50.4 points per game for 1961-62 season, even more amazing when you consider the NBA didn't even use the three-point field goal until after the merger with the old American Basketball Association. The closest anyone has come since to Chamberlain's feat was in 2006 when Kobe Bryant scored 81 points in a game for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Los Angeles Laker forward Metta World Peace (formerly Ron Artest) receives seven games for an elbow to the back of the head of Oklahoma City's James Harden. World Peace claims he just got overexcited celebrating a dunk and the elbow was accidental. That would be the equivalent of claiming Joe Frazier's left hook was an affectionate love tap.
