Seattle's Brandon Browner has turned down a deal that could have reduced his suspension by three months. Had he accepted the deal, he could have returned to the field - likely a with a different team. If he is unsuccessful, he would likely struggle to find employment if teams know he can't help them until the final quarter of the season. Browner would also be a free agent after the season and a successful appeal would give him a potentially big contract when teams open up their checkbooks.

A further note on Detroit - Philadelphia: Both teams feature explosive offenses being second and third in yards per game. The Eagles, though, have the second worst defense in the league and Detroit's pass defense, particularly its secondary, is highly suspect. Tjhe Lions also have a -8 turnover margin with 25 turnovers while the Eagles are +7.

An inability to adjust to blizzard conditions, and turnovers results in Philadelphia dominating the line of scrimmage in the fourth quarter results in a 34-20 win over Detroit. The Lions had seven fumbles and lost three, two of those in Eagles' territory and were lagely unable to move the ball in the second half against a defense that has shored up some of its shortcomings. The other turnover came in the fourth quarter that Philadelphia converted into a touchdown.

Jeremy Ross returned a punt 58 yards for a touchdown and kickoff 98 yards to the house for the Lions who managed only 228 yards total offense. The Lions also got snowed for 299 yards rushing and 478 yards total offense, most of the rushing coming from Lesean McCoy who had 217. Matthew was largely ineffective completing only 10 of 25 for 148 yards.

Headscratching playcalling by Dallas and a porous defense allows Green Bay to comeback from a 26-3 halftime deficit to claim a 37-36 win over the Cowboys. With a sizeable lead, why throw against a team that had difficulty stopping the run. Demarcus Murray had averaged 8.5 yards in the first half. Tony Romo also threw two critical interceptions. The first came when Dallas was still ahead 36-31 when Romo threw late and behind his intended receiver after escaping a sack. Green Bay took advantage of that gift to score the winning touchdown. When protecting a lead, teams need to able to run the ball to milk the clock. The second was when Romo overthrew the receiver and one that was confirmed by video review. Dallas' defense was burned for 440 total yards, 299 of them on 26-for-39 passing by Matt Flynn, and big plays.

Failure to execute, untimely penalties, and erratic play by Matthew Stafford give Baltimore an 18-16 win over Detroit as Justin Tucker kicked six field goals, including the game winner with 38 seconds left. Two of Detroit's penalties set up Baltimore's first field goal. A second came after a pass interference penalty and the third came after a helmet to helmet hit with 16 seconds left in the first half. Calvin Johnson dropped two passes, one which would have given Detroit a first down at the Baltimore 31 after a third and 15. Stafford's first interception came when he threw behind Reggie Bush in Baltimore territory on Detroit's first possession of the second half.

A second came when he threw late and down the middle. After Detroit had moved the ball the length of the field to take a 16-15 lead with 2:21 left, the Lions would allow a 27 yard pass on third and 15. That would set up Tucker's gamewinning 61 yard field goal with 38 seconds left. Detroit would have only one play when Stafford overthrew his intended receiver for his third interception.

A bright side for Detroit is Eli Manning has a league high 25 interceptions and 27 turnovers. The downside is Matthew Stafford has a league high 12 turnovers since Week 11 and is third with 21 giveaways for the season. The issues, turnovers, lack of discipline, poor execution in the fourth quarter send Detroit to a 23-20 overtime loss to the New York Giants. The Giants would score 17 of their points as a result of three turnovers, one of them an off target throw in the fourth quarter that Fauria was lucky get his hands on that was returned for the tying score. Untimely penalties played a role. One a delay of game penalty against the cornerback that allowed the Giants to kick a 52 yard field goal just before halftime. A holding penalty wiped out a first down in the fourth quarter that would have allowed the Lions run down the clock and eventually forced them to punt. They also failed to take advantage of two Giants turnovers, each of which could have given the Lions a chance at victory.
