Tennessee running back Shonn Greene has been arrested on failure to stop/halt/frisk, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, and illegal parking. Greene's car had been parked in a handicap space and when the officer, who was in the middle of issuing the citation, demanded to see the placard. Greene then sped off nearly hitting the officer and was impeded by traffic. A second attempt to issue the citation resulted in Greene speeding off before turning himself in.

Detroit plays Atlanta at 9:30 A.M. at Wembley Stadium in London. Detroit enters the the game still leading in total defense, but a downside is they are last in the league in nyards per rushing attempt at 3.2. Atlanta 21 Detroit 0 at the two minute in the first half. The Lions secondary has been largely picked apart and they have hurt themselves with key penalties, one a pass interference penalty in the end zone which negated a 103 yard interception return for a touchdown and kept Atlanta's drive for a third touchdown alive.

Detroit takes advantage of missed assignments, poor clock management, and mind boggling decisions to take a 22-21 win over Atlanta on a 48 yard field by Matt Prater. The game winner came a missed field that was negated by a delay of game penalty. With Detroit down 21-3 and all three tight ends and top receiver Calvin Johnson deactivated for the game, Atlanta found a way to lose track of Golden Tate on two occasions. The first resulted in a 59 yard touchdown pass to bring the score to 21-10. The second came on the final drive when Tate caught a 32 yard pass that might have resulted in a 93 yard touchdown had Matthew Stafford hit Tate in stride.

A poor decision by Falcon quarterback Matt Ryan resulted in a 45 yard interception return to the Atlanta. After a scramble, Ryan threw late and down the middle. If anyone was wondering what Drew Brees saw the week before, we can only wonder what Ryan saw since there wasn't a Falcon receiver within 15 yards of where it was intercepted.

In the end, poor clock management, holding penalty that was declined, and a dropped pass spelled doom for Atlanta. After the two minute warning, the Falcons could only run down an additional 22 seconds and a headscratching pass on third down allowed Detroit to keep its one remaining timeout. As for the declined penalty, it is a risk, but in the closing minutes, possession of the ball with time on the clock becomes paramount.

Before Prater's game winner, Detroit had been 0-for-7 on attempts between 40 and 49 yards. The blown 21 lead was the largest for Atlanta in franchise history and Stafford became the third quarterback to overcome three 21 points deficits as a starter.

Carolina defensive lineman Greg Hardy's trial for assault on a female and communicating threats has been postponed until next year which would likely end his career in the NFL and not just with the Panthers. His franchise tag label has tied the hands of the front office in trying to rebuild the offense front line, the receiving corps, and the defensive backfield. So far, he has been paid $6.17 million not to play. Hardy has been banished to the Exempt/Commissioner Permission list and is facing a cold free agent market which has concerns about his legal and character issues.

Matthew Stafford's 11 yard touchdown pass to Theo Riddick with 29 seconds remaining Detroit a 20-16 win over Miami. The Lions were able to force the Dolphins to settle for field goals though Miami quarterback Ryan Tannenhill threw behind two receivers in the end zone. Detroit also failed to finish off two drives and had to settle for field goal attempts, one of which was blocked. That looked more like a low kick by Matt Prater that hit a Detroit lineman. That was returned to the Detroit three yard line and Miami scored on the next play.

Detroit also failed to take advantage of two Miami turnovers, more notably an interception on which Tannenhill didn't look off his receiver and was also off target that was returned to the Miami 16. That chance was squandered by a 15 face mask penalty and Stafford's off target throw that was intercepted in the end zone, a throw that needed to be out in front of Calvin Johnson.

Arizona uses big plays on its first two possessions and Detroit's inability to finish drives to secure a 14-6 win. Penalties and sacks frequently put the Lions in long yardage situations and forced them to punt on a few occasions and forced them to settle for a field goal on another. They were also unable to take advantage of two interceptions by Arizona quarterback Drew Stanton, neither of which he had any business throwing and one occurred in the red zone and the other in the Cardinals' own territory. Detroit also had a punt return overturned on video review and were forced to start on the one yard line.

Detroit also had a headscratching use of personnel in the second on fourth and short in Arizona territory. Why was Bell on the sidelines when he was getting yardage. And Arizona was also able to contain Detroit's passing game holding the Lions to 164 yards which comes to 5.5 yards per attempt. Stafford was 18-of-30 with one interception.
