Pens are scary this season. Sid's having an excelent season, Malkin's due to return, Kunitz has been string for them, they added Murray to their blueline, Morrow and Iggy up front.

That's why if i were MB I wouldn't be too concerned about blostering up for a post season run. We have a young team, we have several years to try and win the cup. It's not as if we're an older team with guys at the ends of their contracts or close to retirement and this is our last hourrah.

Stay competitive, but let the pens have this one and use this season as a measuring stick. Take notes in the post season and see if we can plug those holes in the off season.

What happened to league parity?!? this team is stacked. lol :P Win streak goes to 15 games

I haven't really taken a look, but have wondered how they remain under cap with these recent string of signings. Obviously they are or else the league would've had something to say. Sid, Malkin, Letang and MAF each take up a good chunk of cap space, probably why they're making such a push this season before the cap goes down next year. Letang of the names mentioned above has a very cap friendly hit.

As is with Iggy on the books they're slightly over 65 in cap with 4.4 free. Next season they'll have to do some shuffling if they want to keep iggy, which I doubt they will. With some fancy managing and with Iggy and Morrow accepting a little less or the same, they'd be able to keep things pretty much as is with some changes to their lower lines. They have a few lower line guys who's contracts are up, be interesting to see how they look next season.

Their core stays the same for at least another season... Sid, Malkin, Kunitz, Letang, Orpik and Martin are all signed through til next season.

Penguins' Crosby hit in face with slapshot, sent to hospital

The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame a bloody injury to Sidney Crosby on Saturday for their 15th straight victory, beating the New York Islanders 2-0 in Jarome Iginla's debut behind third-period goals from Matt Cooke and James Neal. Crosby skated off the ice with a towel covering his mouth after a slap shot by teammate Brooks Orpik deflected off a stick and hit the NHL scoring leader in the face.

Full Story.

Pittsburgh's 15 game winning came entirely within the month of March making the Penguins the first team to go 10-0-0 within an entire calender month.

If this was an 82 game schedule,,,they wouldn't play 15 games in one month,,,,so, to my mind,,,,,it comes with an asterick.

NHL.com. Forward James Neal left last night's game against the Rangers after being hit in the face with an elbow from Michael Del Zotto. Neal remained down for several minutes while trainers attended to him before skating off under his own power. Coach Dan Bylsma provided no update on his condition other than to say he will be evaluated in a few days.

NHL.com. There is still no timetable for Crosby to resume skating. He will miss his sixth straight game to tonight.

and he's not cleared to play 1st playoff game tonight

Now that the pens have solved their goalie issue they look unstoppable. Malkin's having an incredible post season and Vokoun is looking like the Vokoun who played for the cats. Nice to see him bounce back, felt bad that he struggled in washington after giving a basement team (cats) his best years.

Who think's MAF's days in Pittsburg are coming to an end?

Since their cup run and victory over the wings, MAF has had trouble in reg season and playoffs. Always felt he was overrated, easy for an avergae tender to look good when surrounded by such a solid team.
