If you have time and if you feel like taking on a challenge, I've been meaning to ask someone to make me a signature and a wallpaper with the same image. I used the following image for a couple of years now, but I'd like it changed a bit...

I'm looking for something just like that. What I really want is the faces of the players in the "C" just like that picture. You can make them all black and white if you want, it doesn't really matter.

I DO NOT want any animations or anything overly flashy, as I'd like to preserve the classy look. I have selected a total of 12 players. You will notice that there are more than one choice for some of the players, but I don't want the same player more than once. I'm leaving the choice of pictures and sequence up to you depending where you want to use them in the "C"... Here are the pictures (feel free to crop them if need be):

This is not a contest, but it is a challenge for sure. Obviously, I will most likely use one of them as my new signature so it can't be more than 450 x 150 pixels! It's not necessary, but you can put "JL" in there (small) if you wish...

Feel free to play around with the background if you want, but the faces MUST be in the "C" like the original.

There is a lot of talent here so I'm curious to see what comes out.

Alright, I'm going to attempt this. Only I need a little bit more info... what size does the wallpaper need to be? 800x600 or 1024x768?

Get newest version of GIMP, I can't teach you because I'm terrible at it.  I'd ask Musketball.

BTW, Musketball, how do you make cutouts in GIMP?

There are many ways to do it. Mostly you have to have a good steady hand.

What I tend to do is magnify like mad and tackle one little section at a time.

1st: Do a very rough cutout with the lasso tool to get the rough outline of what you want to keep. CUT, then PASTE AS NEW. This will give you your image on a transparent background.

2nd: Magnify like crazy, start carefully erasing. Go back to normal magnification every once in a while to see how things are progressing. repeat... Don't use an overly large eraser. You can sometimes use the magic wand to select blocks of color. Sometime you can use the Color selection tool.

When you're happy with the cutout, you can use the smudge tool to smooth over some rough edges, don't overdo it, and always try to follow the same line as the cutout.

Look at the cutout with normal magnification, load up the background in a separate layer (ALWAYS USE LAYERS FOR EVERYTHING), now look at the result, place it where you want, and look at your edges, smudge out any out of place pixels you see until everything looks just right. use the smallest brush you can while you are touching up.

I'm by no means an expert at this, and others will certainly have better tricks for doing this. (I'm thinking Kimmy and Kanudiggit for instance).

I use a graphics tablet calibrated to my monitors, it's 1000 times better control over the brush.

Watch out for backgrounds that contrast too sharply with your cutout, the more contrast between them, the more we will see any cutout mistakes.

Hey, i was bored, and saw this awesome pic of Johnson, so I decided to do something with it. Nothing to fancy...I just blurred everyone but him to bring the focus on him. Did it work?

Really, really simple, but I tried 17th Av's thing where he blurs everyone except for the player he's bringing attention to. What do you guy's think?

Haha, thank you! =]

Signatures have never been my strong point, I like alot of space to work with and so wallpapers and website layouts are my favourite thing to make and for some reason I'm never totally happy with the signatures I put together, but thank you though!

I have problems with wallpapers...There's just too much space and I don't know what to do with it haha

I might try to do some if i have the time to do so :?
