Jarred Tinordi

Say goodbye to Tinordi

Per HIO If he doesn't make the big club he has to clear waivers

I highly doubt the Habs will expose him to waivers. If he's not in the plans, then i'm sure they'll trade him. IMO he has value somewhere in the League.

It's a tricky situation. Because of a failure to get Tinordi playing time in lieu of guys like Murray and Bouillon and Allen, we really don't have a great idea of how Tinordi will develop. But he's a first-round choice, he's still young, and the truth is that defencemen, especially the bigger ones, can take a while to adjust to the NHL. I don't think it would be prudent to give up on Tinordi just yet and I agree that he'd likely be claimed if he was exposed to waivers.

For our part, the left side of our defence is not that stellar and it\s certainly not looking good going into the future. You have Beaulieu but after that you have an aging Andrei Markov and an in-over-his-head Alexei Emelin. Would I rather lose Emelin or Tinordi? I'd rather lose Emelin on waivers and give Tinordi a chance. Subban, Petry, and Beaulieu should be locks in the line-up. Pateryn and Tinordi would ideally be worked in too. That means the Habs really need to look at trading one of Markov, Emelin, or Gilbert. I think Gilbert may be the most likely to go, but it would be a better fit for us if someone could take Emelin off our hands.

I have a sneaking suspicion he will be packaged with a forward & traded for a different prospect or perhaps a draft pick.

Too bad because i think he could have been very good here but I feel like he's been leapfrogged by other young dmen due to our usage of Murroullion etc when we really should have been letting him learn & grow as a younger player.

Yes that poor player management that I called Bourray can be blamed 100% for the fact that he's not on the team right now. Instead he's one - two seasons behind where he should be right now. Thanks coach.

We have to somewhat blame the GM if we're questioning Tinordi's development. He's the one who signed the Murray's and Soupy's.

MT's job was to win games and obviously using the vets was the safe call, rather then using a raw rookie. I'm certainly not approving of those coaching decisions, but i can understand why they were made. If Tinordi's mistakes cost the team games, then it's MT's neck in the noose. If it's the vets who fail, then that's at least a shared blame with the GM.

This makes sense to me and I don't think he is a write off yet.Bergy obvioulty didn't feel he was ready and has signed him. He has not impressed me this preseason and the argument that he needed to develop in the NHL doesn't make sense to me. He will get more ice-time in the AHL to get his game together. He still seems slow with the puck and tentative in his decision making and that will cost him big time in the NHL. Pateryn on the other hand spent more than a year in the minors while Tinordi got a few chances with the big club, but at this time I don't think it is even close. Pateryn appears much more reliable. Spots will still be available for Tinordi but he is definitely running out of time.

That's the problem for MB. If he sends Tinordi down to St. Johns, Tinordi won't clear waivers. So, IMO, MB has to keep him up, and play him, or make a trade.

He hasn't really played much in the preseason. His confidence looks to be his biggest problem. We won't get much for him in a trade, but he won't clear waivers. I'll be really disappointed if he isn't on our roster to start the season because I can see him flourishing somewhere else where he has a secure spot and doesn't need to over-analyse every play he makes. This is what it seems like he is doing now. He is afraid to make a mistake.

I wouldn't mind if we lost him. IMO, he hasn't earned himself a roster spot.

The one thing Bergevin should be concerned about is having the best players on the team. Tinordi is not one of those players right now. We can't hang onto him hoping he turns into something. He might be the next Ryan O'Byrne for all we know.

Hardly noticed him out there last night which is not good for a guy who is supposed to be a big physical player. He may have caught a break if Emelin misses a little time from that shot in the hand.

That being said, has Emelin really been any better? No. I'd prefer to see Tinordi get a chance to develop here than deal with Emelin being caught out of position over and over as a veteran.

Doesn't that point also tie in with the GM?? He did hire the guy.

I believe it does... and suggest quite a few of his hires are suspect.

No question that MB has failed when it comes to hiring personnel. It's good that he's not afraid to surround himself with others with experience (Dudley, for example). But his opting for a Francophone-only approach to many positions and his refusal to fire people not doing their jobs well are a sign of poor management. You can't just hire your friends and then pretend like they're doing a great job when they aren't. Having Therrien and Lefebvre, among others, has severely hindered the development of a number of players, including Tinordi, Beaulieu, Leblanc, Galchenyuk, Sekac, Eller, etc. MB has made it clear he is keeping MT because of the on-ice results, despite the fact he recognizes we've gotten lucky with great goaltending and few injuries. This doesn't say much for why he's opted to keep Lefebvre and how he justifies the setbacks we've seen in developing certain players. Then again, the previous Habs regime bungled up the development of many players themselves, including a similar failure to develop a big defenceman in Ryan O'Byrne.
