IT'S GAME DAY AGAIN! (we have to get rid of these rags).

TONITE THE HABS

WILL ENDEAVOR TO BEAT THE

7 PM EST. In Canada: CBC (English), TVAS (French), In the United States: USA, MSG, Elsewhere: NHL.tv/NHL Gamecentre Live, NHL Center Ice.

After looking like the more dominant team through games two and three, hopes were high that the Montreal Canadiens could take a commanding series lead in New York on Tuesday night.

That, of course, would not be the case. Instead, the Rangers fought back with an impressive showing, knotting the series up at two games apiece, making for a best-of-three kicking off tonight at the Bell Centre.

With both teams looking to avoid being backed into a corner, tonight’s Game Five will undoubtedly be the most important to date.

Special teams continue to be a factor in the series, as the Habs’ penalty kill has continued to be perfect in shutting down the Rangers’ man-advantage. The Canadiens’ power play unit may have cost them a win on Tuesday night, however, after failing to convert on three opportunities.

The series now comes down to who can win two-out-of-three, with the possibility of two games on home ice for the Habs. If they can get back to their performances from earlier in the series, there’s no reason to doubt their chances. A repeat of Game Four, however, could spell trouble.

According to TSN, Emelin will play, and Davidson will come out, as yet unconfirmed

Hopefully Emelin's return will be good. He hasnt missed a ton of time so he shouldnt be too rusty. Although i dont think davidson was really a problem last game.

No other changes, if the practice lines are accurate.

I have a bad feeling about this game . Because momentum has shifted to the Rangers. I fear Habs will try too hard and overdo things.

Better pray the "good" Emelin shows up tonight, not the gaffe-prone one. Hopefully he doesn't get caught by the Rangers' speed and cost bad goals.

Still can't understand why Davidson was scratched considering his satisfactory performance. Beaulieu should sit instead. Imagine both Beaulieu and Emelin having bad games at the same time (shudder).

Needless to say, this is a high stakes match because of B2B Game 6. Both teams get no rest or respite. Loser has to fend off elimination 25 hours later.

Finally, this is a Kinot GDT. You know who to blame if game goes south. :4322:

You can blame me for that too. :P

Best comeback:

Reporter- "You haven't scored in 4 games. How much is that on your mind?"
Pacioretty - "Not as much as it's on your mind."

Honestly i can live with either Emmy or Davidson.  As long as its not Nesterov I dont really care.  I think a healthy, focused emelin can bring more to the roster than Davidson but coming back from injury they're probably both pretty much on par.

If Emelin is back, I hope it's the Emelin from the Booins - Habs series that caused Lucic to lose his mind

I just hope he remembers that this is the POs, and he doesn't pinch too much.

First goal has won the game throughout the series.

Think it's more that the Rangers sit back and trap when they have a lead rather than our adjusting our game all that much, but does make a big difference to how NY plays.

Refs are Dwyer and Joanette... could be worse. Let's hope they call a fair game and let the teams settle things.

System-wise you're right but if we get scored on, our team seems to tighten up on their sticks and make errors based on not wanting to make an error - the classic catch 22.  A wonderful left-over from the Therrien era of "if you make a mistake & you're not one of my pets, you are benched or scratched."

This is my take on tonight's game:

After that embarrassment in Game 4, the Habs should come out on fire and make a statement with a dominant performance and the team firing on all cylinders.  There should be no doubt after this game which is the better team that will be moving on.

Of course, I could be wrong, and that last game could turn out to be the beginning of another epic collapse....but I really don't see that happening.  These guys are professional enough to know how bad that effort was; proud enough to not want that to be how this season is remembered; and good enough to turn it all around with a statement game tonight!

My instincts tell me we're about to witness one of the best games this team has ever played!

And if it's not, we can always blame kinot.

Nice GDT Kinot, Do you have some inside info on the sky falling and any info on Chicken Little's signing . I'm curious if  we have a good record when he is part of the GDT or is this his first appearance in a Hab's jersey?  I too would prefer to see Beaulieu out and Davidson in, but the difference between them is not that great.

I'm sure if you wanted Chicken Little's autograph, he would be happy to sign one for you.

And we're not sure if he's making his first appearance in a Hab's jersey or not.  We think Dwight King is still in the lineup.
