32 g and 66 points in 71 games last year at $7m per... i think a lot of teams would be willing to "take on" his contract.

He has been a consistent scorer and lead Vegas in scoring on a good team. So many want Laine who will end up costing a lot more and has been benched because he doesn't like to play both ends of the ice and he whines about who the coach puts him with. For an almost guaranteed 30+ goals every year I'd take Patches in a heart beat!

My mistake.  Does that also mean he has at least five productive seasons left?

A report from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman announced that TB's cap issues may be solved by LTIR. There is word Nikita Kucherov is battling an injury that may keep him out awhile. No comment from team/agent, so details are sketchy -- but clarity expected this week. If unable to play (unfortunately), it will clear room for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The New Jersey Devils announced Thursday that they've agreed to a three-year, entry level deal with Dawson Mercer, the No. 18 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and the team's second of three first round selections they made in October.  Mercer is one of six players representing the Devils organization at the 2021 World Junior Championships.

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed their starting goaltender.  Late Tuesday night, NHL analyst Kevin Weekes tweeted that he was told RFA goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood and the New Jersey Devils were “close to agreeing on a 3 yr contract.” By Wednesday morning, it turned out, that information was accurate.

It was confirmed by multiple other sources that Blackwood had signed a three-year, $2.8 million deal with the Devils and it’s being viewed by most as a pretty good steal considering his numbers statistically have been better than Carter Hart and Tristan Jarry.

And it's starting.

The Capitals helmet will feature a decal for Capital One. The Devils helmet will have one for Prudential Financial. The Predators will have a Bridgestone decal on theirs.

I'm actually surprised the first entity to have their logo on Hab's helmets wasn't the Liberal party.

Hrm. I'm not sure that that would be legal.

Do you really think the Liberals care? They would just prorogue the government again to sweep it under the rug.
