Pittsburgh 13 Detroit 10, 13 innings.  Bullpen meltdowns on both sides, Detroit unable to get the timely hit - they would strand 13 runners and left the bases loaded twice.  The Pirates scored in the 13th after two outs and no one on base.  Gregory Polanco launched a 3-0 fastball over the middle of the plate over the scoreboard for the winning margin.

Pittsburgh 1 Detroit 0, Game 1.  Trevor Williams combined with three relievers to limit Detroit to two hits.  Williams was lifted after six innings despite having a no hitter going due to allowing six walks.  The Tigers were unable to up move runners and struggled to catch up with fastballs.  Gregory Polanco lined a 3-0 fastball into the right field corner for an RBI double to account for the game's only run.

NCAA championship game:  Michigan - Villanova Alamo Dome San Antonio, Texas 9:20 P.M.

How Michigan wins - On offense, they must shoot better than have from the field, get lane penetration for easy baskets.  Get to the foul line and solve its free throw shooting woes.  Avoid foul trouble as they do not have a deep bench.  On defense, the Wolverines need to slow down Villanova's high power offense,  force the Wildcats to shoot from outside and guard the three point and contest the shots.  They will need to keep the score in the 60's to low 70's.

How Villanova wins:  On offense, they must speed up the tempo and wear down Michigan.  Get Michigan into foul trouble.  Force Michigan to take most of its shots from outside the arc.
