7:00 PM ET    Montreal @ New York Rangers   MSG, TSN2, RDS,

Carey has impressive stats against the Rangers in regular season.

24GP, 16-6, 7 SO
.936 , 1.93

The Game

The New York Rangers will try to extend their season-long winning streak to four games when they play the Montreal Canadiens at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

The Rangers are coming off a 3-1 win at home against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday after winning road games against the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks last week, both in a shootout. Their penalty kill was 4-for-4 against the Sabres.

The Canadiens are looking for a back-to-back Big Apple sweep after defeating the New York Islanders 4-3 in a shootout at Barclays Center on Monday.

Henrik Lundqvist, who made 39 saves against Buffalo, is expected to start for the Rangers opposite Montreal's Carey Price, who has allowed 11 goals on 88 shots in his past three starts.

Players to watch

Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin had two points (one goal, one assist) and a season-high six shots on goal against the Islanders.

Rangers forward Jimmy Vesey scored two goals against the Sabres.

They said it

"This is a huge road trip. We've got to find ways to get points and we started out on the right foot." -- Canadiens forward Max Domi

"We're learning from experience right now and that's a great sign. I thought our third period was really good [Sunday], penalty kill was really good. We just try to keep pushing here and try to continue that good feeling we have as of the last week or so." -- Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist

Canadiens projected lineup

Tomas Tatar -- Phillip Danault -- Brendan Gallagher

Jonathan Drouin -- Max Domi -- Charles Hudon

Artturi Lehkonen -- Jesperi Kotkaniemi -- Joel Armia

Nicolas Deslauriers -- Matthew Peca -- Andrew Shaw

Jordie Benn -- Jeff Petry

Mike Reilly -- Noah Juulsen

Xavier Ouellet -- Victor Mete

Carey Price

Antti Niemi

Scratched: Karl Alzner

Injured: Paul Byron (lower body), Shea Weber (knee), David Schlemko (knee), Tomas Plekanec (back)

Rangers projected lineup

Vladislav Namestnikov -- Mika Zibanejad -- Mats Zuccarello

Chris Kreider -- Kevin Hayes -- Pavel Buchnevich

Jimmy Vesey -- Filip Chytil -- Jesper Fast

Cody McLeod -- Lias Andersson -- Vinni Lettieri

Brady Skjei -- Tony DeAngelo

Marc Staal -- Neal Pionk

Brendan Smith -- Kevin Shattenkirk

Henrik Lundqvist

Alexandar Georgiev

Scratched: None

Injured: Ryan Spooner (lower body), Boo Nieves (concussion), Fredrik Claesson (upper body), Adam McQuaid (lower body), Brett Howden (upper body)

Status report

Howden was injured against the Sabres. Quinn said he was doing well and possibly could play, but the Rangers will be cautious in their approach with the rookie center. … Andersson, who was recalled from Hartford of the American Hockey League on Monday, could make his season debut.

Stat pack

Domi brings a three-game goal-scoring streak into the game. He has 12 points (eight goals, four assists) in his past 10 games. … Nine of the past 17 regular-season games between the Canadiens and Rangers have been a shutout and five of the past six have been decided by two or fewer goals.

P.S. I have it on very good authority, that an Admin has gone on record that he said  "I'd like to think we'll handle the Rangers easily tomorrow."

And that is as good as a a guaranteed win in my books. :)

Need all the points we can muster in the next 3 games ahead of the dreaded Western trip. Even though it's the Canadian version of the Western swing, it still gives us fits.

Its kind of crazy that right now, 1 for 1 tatar seems like a better fit on this team than Pacioretty.   And we have Suzuki as our best prospect not playing in the NHL  AND a 2nd rounder.

Redemption for the McDonaugh trade. Patches has become a Gomez? Hard to complain about it
