Agreed. Domi has been the standout player if you had to pick one, as far as all-star votes go. I still believe Jeff Petry carried this team for a while, and I think he too should go if the assignments are based on merit. I don't think Tatar has done enough to win a spot, and I'm not sure why Weber is on the list when he's missed most of the season. And I certainly don't want to see fans vote in Carey Price, for a few reasons: one, it's stupid to see players voted in when they don't merit it, it just makes a mockery of what being an all-star means; two, whenever Carey goes, we almost never get another choice and the guy who actually deserves it gets snubbed; and three, Carey needs a break given his injury issues. So for me, in terms of who should be there, it would be Domi and Petry. Drouin's played well, but we're not getting three players in, so I think the first two are more deserving.

Yup. Domi for sure, and if we're sending a second, then i'd be ok with any of Gally, Tatar, Drouin, or Petry,. Agreed fully about Price,,,, and Weber missing the first two months pretty much eliminates him, and in no way should he go before Petry IMO

Domi for me then Petry, played a lot of minutes and did a good job as our #1

Domi should be the pick followed by our #1 D-man Petry.

Trouble is that there will be a plethora of forwards from other teams attending, so, IMO it should be Petry.

I agree that Weber hasn't played enough to earn a spot just included him on the list to give everyone all options. I also agree that when Price goes we usually never have another player go. I included Price cause as of late he has been our best player, however like most I don't think he should go cause while he is playing well now he did not play well at the beginning of the year and an All-Star should be the most valuable player from the beginning. I feel Gallagher, Tatar and Drouin all have played well but again have been streaky. Kotkaniemi has been solid but not enough to even be a consideration this year. I feel the only real players that should be considered are Petry and Domi as a dark hoarse I would also consider Danault. Before I get flack I will explain. Petry is obvious he has been a solid player game in and game out all year. Domi is also obvious as he has turned his game around and plays with heart every night even if it sometimes gets him into penalty trouble. Now for my dark horse pick. Danault has played well even though he has been used as our #1 center. His ability to shut down the top players on other teams night in and night out puts him on my list. My biggest problem with his game isn't anything he has done but is the fact he is being played on the top line above his abilities.

For me it should be Domi or Price. Weber would be my choice but hard to give it to a guy who hasn’t played many games.

Ovi, McDavid, McKinnon, and Matthews named captains of their respective teams to go to the ASG. Each division is allowed to send 6 forwards, 3 D men, and 2 goalies, and the last player on each team will be voted in by fans as well, which means that within the next 9 players named, each team needs to be represented. So here's my guess for the Atlantic:

- Thomas Chabot and Morgan Rielly, both of whom are in the Norris conversation, are two of the D men.

- Huberdeau represents Florida and Eichel goes for Buffalo. A case could be made for Skinner too, but hard to fit so many guys in from the same team. Larkin (Det) and Pastrnak (Bos) also potential choices here up front.

- Kucherov has to be a lock for TB, and cases could be made for Point and to a lesser extent Stamkos.

So bottom line is that even though we talk about Domi and Petry both being deserving, other teams have even more claim to those few spots, and the fact we're in the bets division in hockey with the most top players right now is going to limit us to getting one selection. I just hope it's not Carey going again, one because he hasn't been all-star worthy and two because it's lazy of the NHL to keep sending him just because they need to give us a rep and it's easier to fit a goalie in. The three best goalies in our division have been Vasilevskiy, Andersen, and Halak in some order, and that should be recognized. IMO, Petry will be the most likely choice because the competition to get in on defence is lower and it makes more sense to have Huberdeau/Petry than Domi/Yandle if you ask me. So FWIW, I think the roster will look like this:

Matthews (Tor)

Kucherov (TB)

Huberdeau (Fla)

Eichel (Buf)

Larkin (Det)

Petry (Mtl)

Chabot (Ott)

Rielly (Tor)

Halak (Bos)

Vasilevskiy (TB)

with a vote-in for the last forward spot between Marner, Point, Skinner, and Pastrnak.

As predicted, Price is the guy representing us. Its ridiculous.  One of his worst seasons so far (despite the great play of late).   There are several more deserving players (Domi, Petry, Gallagher)  but Price goes because of history and past accomplishments. (and the fact there are too many good forwards out there already).

Certainly not based on last years performance. I don't get it. Play a dozen decent games and your reputation from 2 years ago gets you in.

Utter crap that Price got voted in by the league. It's a complete cop-out from the NHL, and that's nothing against Price. I think he'd be the first to tell you he hasn't played like an all-star this year, but it's an easy out for the league to avoid having to select an actual position player from the Habs. Disappointing for the following reasons:

1. Price doesn't deserve it.

2. Multiple players who probably do: Gallagher, Domi, and Petry top that list.

3. Sad for Habs fans who year in year out get Price in the game and never get to see a deserving position player get a nod. Definitely years where guys like Subban, Pacioretty, Gallagher, or Petry should have gone and didn't.

And furthermore, Weber was listed as the vote-in option, when there is zero chance he's more deserving than Petry or Domi either. Weber has been good since he's come back, but Petry has been good all year and he's done it without Weber to split minutes with for half of it. So we have not one but two guys who were put where they were based on reputation, which makes the entire thing a farce. You can count me among the people who don't care about the ASG for exactly the problems listed above: no concern from the NHL about the validity of the process or a care about fans' seeing the guys who legitimately deserve to be there.

Petry should have been the guy (or possibly Domi) but I'm not surprised Price made it. It's the NHL after all.

I don't really care to be honest, I can't even remember the last time I've watched an ASG.

I think the last time I watch an all-star game was when the conferences were called Wales and Campbell

I personally believe that the NHL has shown with the voting in of Price, just how archaic and obsolete both the ASG and it's voting system are.  Not only that, it also reflects just how knowledgeable the rest of the NHL fan base truly is (Or in this case isn't).

It's all about the NHL marketing marquee names. Stamkos is 3rd on TB scoring (and is the only minus player on that team) but he's going, and not Brayden Point, who has more points. People don't know who Domi or Petry is. If you have won some hardware in the past, pretty much everyone knows who you are, therefore, enter Price.

It's just a popularity contest. Where is John Scott when you need him?

Price will not be attending. The right decision IMO.
