2019-2020 Injury Thread

Recommended Posts

Playing Weber (or Gallagher or Drouin or anyone else for that matter) if hurt in the current circumstances is just utter stupidity. Weber has admitted he's not back to normal but that he wants to get back out there to push for the playoffs. For the team and player to risk his future health for a 1% chance of making the post-season is ridiculous. If he plays, I'd argue it's immediate grounds to fire Bergevin and Julien on the spot.

Makes no sense to me either ... especially if, like we all believe, MB thinks this team is going to compete next year ... then you'd be better off letting Weber heal up rather than risk further injury/aggravation for that 1% chance this year.

Are they getting desperate?

Agreed.

Weber is the stereotypical hockey player. If he can stand on his ankle & he can play, he's going to try. My guess is that the specialist he went to see was specifically to ask "if i play on this, what sort of damage will it cause"

I dont blame Weber (or Gallagher or anyone else) for wanting to play. Its on the management to say "guys. its not worth it at this point."

Maybe - maybe - if we'd won the 3 or so games while he was out, but with 3 more loses, when our season was already teetering on being over, whats the point.

That said i do love the whole "Kypreos sources" saying "Weber's career may be over" and Man mountain just (essentially) saying "hold my beer"

Bergevin thinks were going to compete next year?  I wonder why he would think that?

Dude, Bergevin thinks we're going to compete THIS year!

His whole 'master plan' is about playing exceptions, not norms.  His buddy Al Macinnis had a 68 point season at age 40 so he expects Weber will do the same. St Louis was last in the league last year & went on to win the cup, so why cant we, etc etc.

MB lives in some sort of alternate reality i think. Or at least he believes he does.

We're all just living in Bergevin's world.   I almost can't wait for the team to be mathematically eliminated so they can stop this "we believe" nonsense.

I read that Juulson was practicing at Laval with contact, if true I wish him well and hope he can make a full comeback. Maybe that's the secret plan they can't talk about.

Yup. Not cleared by medical yet but you have to figure if he's wearing a contact jersey that he's got to be close.

Really hope he makes a full recovery- both for him as a human being and for us as fans.

Yeah...Drouin is out with an ankle injury. Stu Cowan believed he was playing hurt and so he was right. Kotkamiemi with another assist last night bringing his total to 11pts in 11 games. Glad he is racking up pts in the AHL and hopefully gaining confidence. Habs need to stop rushing young players into their lineups. Most players should be brought up slowly like Jake Evans who is 23 and only now maybe becoming a regular. I hope that Romanov plays another year in the KHL rather than come over next year.

Disagree on Romanov - he’s not getting much ice time Or a leading role with top team CSKA Moscow - I believe he will get much more development here vs there. He’s proven himself at the world juniors 2 years in a row - “it’s time” as per Buffer!

So, what does a spleen injury mean for Kotkaniemi? Is it likely that he won't be able to return to Laval this season?

I would say it could be likely for precautionary reasons. Spleen injuries can be life threatening and therefore this is serious IMHO. Why risk it?

Ah, I see I see. I wasn't really familiar with what a spleen even does. Indeed, best to be cautious if the injury could be that serious.
