Fan Game: Rank the Habs

79 posts in this topic

A little variation on a game we run on the forum in the off-season... time to rank the Habs. Here is a list of eligible players in the organization:

- Joel Armia

- Paul Byron

- Philip Danault

- Nicolas Deslauriers

- Max Domi

- Jonathan Drouin

- Brendan Gallagher

- Charles Hudon

- Jesperi Kotkaniemi

- Artturi Lehkonen

- Michael McCarron

- Matthew Peca

- Ryan Poehling

- Andrew Shaw

- Tomas Tatar

- Nate Thompson

- Jordan Weal

- Dale Weise

- Karl Alzner

- Jordie Benn

- Josh Brook

- Cale Fleury

- Christian Folin

- Brett Kulak

- Noah Juulsen

- Victor Mete

- Xavier Ouellet

- Jeff Petry

- Mike Reilly

- Shea Weber

- Charlie Lindgren

- Michael McNiven

- Carey Price

- Cayden Primeau

There are 18F, 12D, and 4G, all with at least an outside shot of being part of the roster come next September. We'll go through a series of rounds, each based on different voting criteria until we get a winner as the #1 Hab. Round 1 is pretty simple... we want you to list your favorite Habs in order to give a top 15. Choose your favorite 15 Habs players of the guys listed above and rank them out

1.

2.

3.

... and so on.

If your list isn't exactly 15 players long, your vote won't be counted, so make sure to stick to the rules. At the end of the round, we'll add up the votes (weighted 15 pts for a 1st place vote, 14 for 2nd, and so on...) and then we'll drop the dead weight and vote again based on a new type of list and keep going. So Round 1 is officially open. Give us your top 15 now!

Ranked in order of my favourites. Definitely not in order of talent, or importance to the team, but just who i like.

- Domi

- Kotkanimi

- Price

- Weber

- Gallagher

- Juulsen

- Tatar

- Danault

- Mete

- Petry

- Shaw

- Drouin

- Byron

- Armia

- Reilly (who i actually don't think will be back with the team next year but I still like)

Id probably put Suzuki, Poehling and Brook on the list if they had any (or more than 1) NHL games.  Tough for me to rank them by just watching Junior/College/Worlds so far.

Results for Round 1... only 5 players made in on to every ballot, as far as I could tell... Domi, Price, Tatar, JK, and Danault. Your top 15 are as follows:

Price

Domi

Kotkaniemi

Gallagher

Petry

Weber

Tatar

Danault

Mete

Byron

Lehkonen

Juulsen

Drouin

Shaw

Armia

So now using that top 15, I want you to give me your top 8 players in terms of who you think is the most underrated... you can define that as you want. Who's giving us the most bang for their buck in terms of how much they've gotten paid? Who's doing it all despite not getting credit from fans or media? Who's value is higher to you than you think others appreciate? Top 8 in order please, with #1 being the guy who's the most underrated.

1. Kotkaniemi phenomenon potential low pay cause of ELC so biggest bang for our buck

2. Juulsen solid Dman probably top 2 potential low salary cause of ELC

3. Mete decent skill but criticized heavily most fans forget he is only 21

4. Petry Solid top 2 dman on most teams

5. Gallagher should be considered as one of the elite RW in the league given his numbers but most think he is just above average

6. Danault

7. Lehkonen

8. Byron

I'm doing this primarily by "doesn't get enough love or credit for what he brings to the team" the bigger I think the gap is, the higher they are on the list

1. Shaw

2. Byron

3. Danault

4. Gallagher

5. Weber

6. Lehkonen

7. Armia

8. Tatar
