Nikita Kucherov reportedly out with a serious injury again and may require surgery with a long-term recuperation period. Sound oddly familiar? Guessing the injury is real, of course, but will the recovery be realistic or will Tampa miraculously have their players back right at the start of the playoffs yet again?

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced that forward Nikita Kucherov will be out 8-10 weeks with an unspecified lower-body injury.

IMO Joel Quenville and the Winnipeg GM ( Cant spell his name and Cant  be bothered to look it up ) should both step down voluntarily and if not they should be let go immediately but this is professional sports where winning at any cost over rides everything else . The fact that Florida allowed him to coach last night , knowing he lied and tried to cover up / brush the allegations aside when they happened just goes to show that nothing changed . Florida still considers winning the main priority

I gotta believe it's going to happen anyway. Maybe they're letting the league make the decision for them.

Kevin Weekes reporting Quenneville will be out in Florida and that Tortorella is the man to watch as a potential replacement. Just imagine 10 years ago that Babcock and Quenneville would both be forced out in shame and Tortorella would be last man standing.

Confirmed Quenneville out (by resignation but likely a forced one) and Andrew Brunette in as interim for now.

There has been much criticism on the NHLPA and it's executive director Don Fehr with how they responded to allegations by a Blackhawks player of being sexually assaulted by Brad Aldrich. So will Fehr step down, or be removed?

He should definitely step down, or be removed! He's more in a position of power.

Winnipeg Jets GM Cheveldayoff bears no responsibility in Blackhawks scandal, NHL says

The NHL will not discipline Winnipeg Jets General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff following an investigation into a 2010 allegation that a Chicago Blackhawks video coach had sexually assaulted former player Kyle Beach.

In a statement Friday, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said Cheveldayoff was “not responsible for the improper decisions made by the Chicago Blackhawks related to the Brad Aldrich matter in 2010.”

“While on some level, it would be easiest to paint everyone with any association to this terrible matter with the same broad brush, I believe that fundamental fairness requires a more in-depth analysis of the role of each person,” Bettman said.

“Kevin Cheveldayoff was not a member of the Blackhawks senior leadership team in 2010, and I cannot, therefore, assign to him responsibility for the club’s actions, or inactions. He provided a full account of his degree of involvement in the matter, which was limited exclusively to his attendance at a single meeting, and I found him to be extremely forthcoming and credible in our discussion.”

No Crosby, no Malkin, no Guentzel, no problem for Penguins in season opener.

The Penguins will have their top center back in the lineup Saturday night as the team announced that Sidney Crosby has been activated off injured reserve and will play against New Jersey. Meanwhile, head coach Mike Sullivan also confirmed to reporters including Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that center Jeff Carter has been cleared from COVID protocol and will also suit up.

Crosby has missed all seven games this season after undergoing wrist surgery in early September. The 34-year-old has averaged more than a point per game in all 16 of his NHL seasons and will be a huge addition to a Pittsburgh attack that has been down several key pieces.

The Toronto Maple Leafs placed 25-year-old forward Michael Amadio on waivers today, per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

The move leaves Toronto with no extra forwards on the roster as Ilya Mikheyev remains on injured reserve. While Petr Mrazek is healed from injury and ready to return against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, he was never officially placed on injured reserve. It’s possible that there’s a corresponding call-up coming from the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.

For the third time in three seasons, Jack Hughes will miss a significant amount of time due to injury. The forward was injured Tuesday night against the Seattle Kraken and did not return. New Jersey announced Hughes has a dislocated left shoulder that will not require surgery. He will be re-evaluated next week and placed on injured reserve today. He has begun physical therapy.

Following Hughes' one-week follow-up, it was determined that his left shoulder dislocation is stable, there are no unforeseen issues.

He will be re-evaluated in five weeks. The timeline will be adjusted based on progress.
