Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Ethan Bear has been placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol after testing positive for the virus in San Jose, the team said Monday.

The Carolina Hurricanes were hit with some unfortunate news to start the week, as Monday morning the club announced that defensemen Brett Pesce and Tony DeAngelo have entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocol.

The two now join Ethan Bear, who tested positive one week ago today in San Jose.

Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour has been fined $25,000 for inappropriate conduct during NHL Game No. 329 against the Washington Capitals on Sunday, Nov. 28, the National Hockey League announced today.

The fine money goes to the NHL Foundation.

Anyone know what he did?

Rumoured 12 teams have inquired about him and apparently the Habs are one of them.

I don't see the fit for us with Debrusk who just turned 25 - and teams rarely trade within the division - $3.7M RFA for a potential 15-20G 40 points? We already have Lehkonen who we may move, and we have an overpaid RW in Armia who dabbles on the LW side. Sounds like a recovery project with hope for some upside and we have enough of those

So Mathews got 3 goals last night and Leafs whipped Colorado . As expected today on talk radio ,  AM is the greatest goal scorer in the game and Leafs are favorites to win the Cup this year

Well at least they (the TO media) are consistent.    I wonder if this will be the year the leafs finally make it out of the 1st round?  I mean it has to happen some time before AM goes UFA and moves south, right?

The COVID-19 woes continue for the  St. Louis Blues, with the announcement before Thursday's game against the Tampa Bay Lighting that defenceman  Justin Faulk has been put into protocol. Faulk, 29, has four goals and six assists for 10 points in 22 games this season.

Earlier in the day, the Blues placed Stanley Cup-winning goalie – and potential member of Team Canada's Olympic team – Jordan Binnington in COVID-19 protocol, forcing them to use an emergency backup against Tampa.

Faulk and Binnington join forward Tyler Bozak as Blues players in virus protocol. The Blues are also without injured forwards David Perron, James Neal and Klim Kostin.

The Buffalo Sabres have acquired goaltender Malcolm Subban from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for future considerations.

Malcolm Subban can’t get to the Buffalo Sabres fast enough. The team announced that Dustin Tokarski has been placed in the COVID protocol, forcing them to recall Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen from the AHL. Buffalo made a trade for Subban earlier Thursday but will have to go with Luukkonen and Aaron Dell until he arrives.
