  3. NHL.com. Carolina has signed forward Derek Stepan to a one year $1.35 million contract.

  5. Yakima, Washington - Police received reports of shots being fired at a residence. When police arrived, they found a man in the alley outside his home yelling incoherently with a gun lying in the middle of the road. He was taken into custody and witnesses filled in the details. The suspect loaded soda cans into his refrigerator when one of the cans exploded. He pulled the gun out of his waistband and shot the refrigerator dead. When police confronted him with this information, the suspect said he was shooting at people in the basement who "wanted to kill" him. His house doesn't have a basement and he was charged with second degree unlawful possession of a firearm and discharge of a firearm.

  10. Antelope Valley, California - A driver in a Toyota Prius was spotted driving down the highway with a satellite dish mounted in the center of the hood. When asked if he had difficulty seeing, he said only when he made right turns. Since he couldn't prove he had no intention of making another right turn, he was arrested. No word on whether he was ticketed or released with a warning.

  12. Quinlan, Texas - A customer was seen wandering around the gas pumps at a Shell station at 12:30 A.M. When police arrived, the suspect said he lost a bag of meth and couldn't find it. He was charged with public intoxication and DUI. No word on whether the bag of meth ever turned up.

  16. China - A 14 year boy didn't want to help around the house. So after his dad asked for help the 14 year old sneaked out the house and went to the police and filed a complaint against his dad for illegal use of child labor. Police then took the boy home and found his dad had taken away his smart phone and made him do chores anyway. Police determined the father was in the right.
