New York Yankees 5 Cleveland 2.  C.C. Sabbathia combines with the bullpen to shut down Cleveland on five hits, four in a run fifth.  An inning ending double play ended the inning, however.  Corey Kluber lasted 3 1/3 innings, allowing three hits.  Two of them were gopherballs to D.D. Gregorius, a 1-2 fastball in the first and an 0-1 curveball in the third to account for the first three Yankee runs.  Cleveland's defense also did a disappearing act in the ninth committing of their three errors resulting in two more runs.  Yankees win series 3-2.

Washington 5 Chicago Cubs 0.  Defensive miscues and an inability by the bullpen to find the strike zone in the eighth allow Washington to tie the series at 2-2.

Chicago Cubs 9 Washington 8.  Defensive miscues and baserunning mistakes allow the Cubs to win the series 3-2.  A wild pitch in the first lead to the Cubs' first run and another wild pitch allowed a run to score in the third.  Max Scherzer started the fifth inning and got the first two batters, but then needed eight batters to get the third out.  The third run of a four run inning scored when Javier Baez struck out on a passed passed ball and reached second when catcher Matt Wieters threw the ball into right field.  Washington also had a runner gunned out at the plate on a fielder's choice in the first and a runner picked off first base in the eighth.

Houston 2 New York Yankees 1.  Justin Verlander racks up 13 strikeouts in limiting the Yankees to five hits.  Most of the strikeouts came on sliders as the Yankees showed a lack of discipline at the plate swinging at pitches out of the strike zone.   A leaping catching in the second prevented an extra base hit and the Yankees had a runner thrown out at the plate in the same inning.  Aggressive baserunning by Jose Altuve resulted in the winning run in the ninth when catcher Gary Sanchez dropped the relay throw from second base.  Houston leads the series 2-0.

Houston 7 Los Angeles Dodgers 6, 11 innings.  Home run derby as both teams had trouble keeping horsehides in the ballpark.  Both teams had four round trippers, but the Dodgers allowed four in the late innings.  A ninth inning shot tied the game, two solo shots gave Houston a temporary lead in the 10th, and a two run shot in the 11th gave the Astros the win.  Series tied 1-1.
