The NFL has suspended four players for their role in the bounty program. Linebacker Jonathan Vilma for the season, Green Bay defensive end Will Smith 8 games, Saints defensive end Will Smith 4 games, and Browns linebacker Scott Fujita 3 games. All four are appealing. No surprise. The NFLPA is calling the suspensions too harsh, also no surprise.

Former NFL linebacker Junior Seau has died, according to the San Diego Chargers website. He was 43

Seau was found in his Oceanside, California home with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police are investigating Seau's death as a suicide.

Suspended Saints player Jonathan Vilma has filed a defamation suit against Roger Goodell claiming he falsely accused Vilma of stating he was part of the bounty program. How much merit this suit has is debatable.

Denver quarterback Peyton Manning looked impressive in his first workout showing no signs of the neck injury that sidelined last season. His passes have had plent of zip and the one pass downfield was broken up at the goal line.

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley has been arrested for the second time in two months in Alabama, this time for DUI and eluding police. There are growing concerns Fairley is on his way to becoming a bust.

Jacksonville rookie wide receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested Sunday in Stillwater, Oklahoma for DUI. According to police, he had a blood alchohol of .24 three times above the limit in Oklahoma. Today, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure gets two games for possession of marijuana, in this case a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. Leshoure had been caught with the weed in his mouth during a traffic stop in which he was a passenger. His teammate, NIck Fairley, will likely be the next to find out the consequences. Things like this are an expected result of players being coddled to an extent from the time they in elementary school that they develop a sense of entitement by the time they are 18.

LaDainian Tomlinson retires after 11 seasons. He set a single season record with 31 touchdowns, 28 rushing in 2006. He also rushed for a career high 1815 yards. Tomlinson finishes with 13,684 rushing yards and 145 touchdowns.

NFL is going public with evidence of bounty against the four players suspended: a prize of $35,000 for taking Bret Farve out of the NFC championship game, a computer slide of photos of three Seattle players saying "Now it's time to do our job. Collect $$$! No apologies. Let's go hunting" printed on it. Also obtained were hand-written notes,documents from the Saints' computer system and witness testimony.

Detroit Lions cornerback Aaron Berry was arrested last weekend for DUI, failure to stop, and render aid and other counts, all misdemeanors, stemming from a weekend accident. The Lions' next challenge: keeping its players out of the can.

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley has pleaded no guilty to charges including DUI, possession of an open container of alcohol, attemping to elude police, and failure to have proof of insurance, following his arrest in Mobile, Alabama.
