A 2 year old son of Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson has died from head injuries that appear to be consistent with abuse. Joseph Robert Patterson, 27 and who was in a relationship with the child's mother, has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant. The charges will be reviewed and additional charges will be added according to Lincoln County State's Tom Wollman. Patterson is being held on $750,000 cash bond in Minnehaha County Jail. The incident took place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Peterson still plans to play tomorrow.

Detroit plays at Cleveland at 1:00 P.M. Receiver Calvin Johnson is still questionable for Detroit. With a decimated receiving corps, the Lions will be hardpressed to beat a Cleveland team that is fourth in the league in defense. The Browns are also ranked in the top ten in points allowed and sacks and have not allowed a 100 yard rusher or 300 yard passer.

Detroit takes advantage of an off target Cleveland quarterback Brandon Weeden to score 24 unanswered points in the second half after the Browns had thouroughly dominated the Lions in the first half for 31-17. Included was a mindboggling shovel pass by Weeden as defensive C.J. Mosley had him by his left ankle that was intercepted by DeAndre Levy. That came on a first and ten from the Detroit 44 yard line and trailing at that point 24-17. The Lions would convert that mistake into the game clinching touchdown.

Matthew Stafford was 25-for-43 for 248 yards, four touchdowns, three to Joseph Fauria and one interception and that was on a tipped that should have been six points for Detroit, but was intercepted in the end zone. The second touchdown pass to Fauria was on a ball on which if the Cleveland defender had turned around, he would have had an interception.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has hinted defensive tackle Jay Ratliff may be finish for the season with hamstring and groin problems. And if he doesn't play this season, he will not likely be with the team next season. Ratliff has had injury problems since signing a seven year $48.625 million contract in 2011 and has not been on the field since training camp.

Stalled drives and special teams breakdowns allow Mike Nugent to kick a 54 yard field on the last play to give Cincinnati a 27-24 win over Detroit. Two first half drives would result in field goal attempts, one which was blocked. The other was a shanked 28 yard punt by Sam Martin gave Cincinnati its chance at midfield. Two short passes gave Nugent his chance for a second consecutive game winning field goal. Injuries to offensive tackles Jason Fox and Riley Reiff forced the Lions to reshuffle their front line on field goals.

Detroit takes advantage of mindboggling strategy, soft coverage, and a goal line defense that was asleep at the switch to pull out a last second 31-30 win over Dallas. Dallas also failed to hold a 10 point lead with 6:45 left. After Reggie Bush scored to bring Detroit within 27-24, the Lions got a stop against Dallas for what should have been their last realistic shot and after the Lions were stopped on downs, Dallas was in business at the Detroit 35 with under two minutes left. But instead of kneeling down to run out the clock, the Cowboys inexplicably decided to risk a handoff and ran the ball, something they had difficulty doing during the game getting only 62 yards. They did, however force Detroit to use their final two timeouts. On third down, Dallas actually got 11 yards to the 27 and were called for holding on the play stopping the clock. Detroit declined the penalty and this is where Dallas got outcoached. Why bother giving the Cowboys another opportunity to further run the clock down.

A field goal gave Dallas a 30-24 lead giving Detroit the ball on the 20 with 1:02 left and no timeouts left. After stopping Bush for no gain on first down, the Cowboys allowed Calvin Johnson to get open for a 17 yard gain, failed to protect the sideline allowed Kris Durham to get open and gain 40 yards and another Johnson reception on a slant pattern to put the ball on the one yard line.

In such a situation, a team would spike the ball to stop the clock. Matthew Stafford, however, noticed Dallas' defense was not paying attention and its linebackers were standing around too far from the line of scrimmage and instead of spiking the ball, took the snap and extended the ball over the goal line.

Dallas failed to notice Arizona had put defenders on Calvin Johnson throughout its game with Detroit and decided to use man-to-man and got burned for 329 yards by Johnson. Its defense also got scorched for 623 total yards while getting held to 268 and failed to take advantage of four turnovers by Detroit, though they did get 10 points off turnovers. Stafford was 33-for-48 for 488 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, one on an ill-advise pass that was returned 74 yards to the Detroit five. The other two turnovers were on fumbles by Bush and Johnson that came while they were going for extra yardage.

Both teams were burned by big plays with Dallas scoring two of their touchdowns on 50+ yard passes.

Cleveland plays host to Baltimore at 4:05 P.M. Baltimore has won the last 11 games against Cleveland who may have found a quarterback who can get them through the rest of the season. That would be important since the Browns have been through three quarterbacks in four along with an inconsistent front line. Which has accounted for a sputtering offense.

As for Jacksonville not playing this week, the same cannot be said for Tampa Bay which is also winless and has to play Seattle whose defense is ranked near the top of the league. Worse yet, Jacksonville and Tampa Bay don't play each other and the Buccaneers' 100 points scored ranks them ahead of only the Jaguars.
