Detroit 30 Green Bay 17.  Detroit stuffs the run and the secondary shuts down Green Bay's top receiver.  Big plays on offense aided the Lions but they were still plagued by curious play calling near the goal line all of which forced Detroit to settle for three field goals.  Special teams hurt Green Bay as they had a 38 yard field goal attempt blocked and failed to return kickoffs past their own 22 yard line.

Detroit 38 Cleveland 24.  Turnovers, penalties, big plays by Detroit, and a curious play call combine to give the Lions the win.  Detroit did record four sacks, but its defensive front was manhandled for a large part of the game by Cleveland's offensive front line allowing for big plays in the running game.  Penalties stalled a Cleveland drive and an offside penalty on third down resulted in a Detroit touchdown.  Turnovers also hurt Cleveland as a fumble after a completed pass resulted in a 44 yard touchdown.  Their other turnover in the Detroit end zone allowed the Lions to run out the clock.  Cleveland missed a chance to tie the game at the half when they attempted a quarterback sneak on second and goal from the Detroit two yard line with 15 seconds left and no time outs.  The clock ran out when that play was stuffed.
