The problem with this scenario is that despite our hopes it looks like our coaching staff is not much different than when Julien was here.  Sure Romanov was given a game or two and JK got a few more opportunities but for the most part its been "play vets in the top 4" and "go back to Tatar-Danault-Gallagher" when possible.

I cant see them using Romanov, Kulak and Harris in our top 6 even thought they might well be 3 of our top 6 dmen.

Yes I agree, I was just pointing out that it would make our D core so much better.

Guess we wont find out because it was just announced he will stay in the NCAA next year.  (for those that werent paying attention to this thread, we're talking about Harris, not Caufield - we still dont know what's going to happen with CC but i think smart money puts him on moving to the pros at the end of this season)

Well, it is official! Harris will not be signing with the Habs this season. He is committed to return to Northeastern for his Sr. year.  This is somewhat concerning news as, if he does not sign with the Habs by June of next year Harris will become a UFA

So Caufield is done. He's free to sign now. We saw what Harris did, now we'll see how interested Caufield is in coming to Montreal. He can sign tomorrow and with the quarantine dropped to 7 days, he could theoretically play for Laval or Montreal next weekend. Knowing MB's MO, he likely goes to Laval first, but with Staal and Caufield potentially available soon, MB has set himself up to be able to unload Danault, Tatar, Armia, etc. for help on D.

The suspense is killing me! Sad that CC wasn't able to make it to the final 4, but Happy for us. Sign him now, Bergy. Make CC happy.

I agree! I really want to see this kid play he is hot right now we have a couple of really good vets on the team to help him out with Perry and Staal he could be a weapon on the power play! it would be awesome to see him score some power play goals.

Sign it Cole! I want to see him and Ylonen on the Rocket for a few games and if we have to burn a year of his ELC, it’s irrelevant

Caufield has apparently said he wants to take a few days to digest the lost season in Wisconsin before deciding on his future. Last year, he was itching to get a contract signed. Guess we'll see where this goes.

A loss is probably the last thing CC expected as the Badgers were heavy favourites.  I'm sure CC is pretty upset and is just thinking about the moment,  rather than his future.  I'm sure, once approached by Bergy, he'll be happy to sign.

Signed a 3 year entry level contract

Good news. No we'll see where he goes. That's one question. The other question is whether Bergevin will have his 3rd press conference in less than a week to talk about it.

Report from Engels says he is confirmed to be headed to Laval once his 7 day quarantine is up. Have a feeling this is because of cap constraints more than anything else and to see how he does in that league.

There’s no need to push or rush Cole - he’s had a solid year. Maybe bring him up  for last 5 games of the season especially if they are not overly important - assuming 4th place is a lock and 3rd may not be achievable.
You are probably right on the cap constraints plus he can’t be given any favoritism - he has to earn it so maybe Ylonen comes up first.

Agree with you Claremont on not rushing CC. Glad to see he is signed.

May be that there is a deal coming too. we could move someone to make cap space and get us either a Dman or picks back. Tater is a UFA would be nice to get some kind of return rather than let him walk, doubt Dano is going anywhere but would be better to move him too if he still thinks he is worth more than 6 mil.

I'm looking forward to seeing Cole Caufield with the Habs.

You and the rest of us. :)

And welcome to the best Habs forum going, unless you're the former Roasalie, in which case you already know.  :6280:

I’m guessing Thursday against Stockton is Cole’s first game with Laval?

Hope so. Not sure when his quarantine is officially up, & when he can start practicing with the team. But it's gotta be a couple days after Eric Stall's time for the Habs?
