fourtrax
It's pre-season.The only thing that's important is for fringe players and the last couple of roster spots.I don't want our best or older players going all out or getting injured for meaningless games.Just play a few to get in game shape,it's a long season Latendresse is only in his second year. To my mind, he hasn't earned the right to coast through preseason. But we'll see. I hope he comes out and plays hard at the start of the regular season. It would be his biggest mistake if he's thinking like you are in this comment. He is a fringe player and he is fighting for a spot. He needs to remember that unlike last year, he can be sent to the Bulldog this season... As my father always said: "The day you think you're good enough is the day you start regressing..." Guest CanadianMike
Lats is not going anywhere. I think everyone should relax. He made a mistake last game he played. I am not his biggest fan, but Lats will not "find himself" in the AHL ever. Carbo and co. like this kid way too much to ever send him down. It is nice though that a player has some GUTS and is not afraid to mix it up, and at the same time put the puck in the net at such a young age. Guest 1970 Habs
I agree it is not a bad thing mixing it up but you need to do it in a smart way. A way that does not hurt the team or himself.
amp73
Mr Lats should watch out One of the 4 rule changes for the 07-08 season: Rule 56 -- Interference. Referees were given discretion to assess a major penalty and a game misconduct when an injury results from an act of interference. Previously, only a minor penalty could be assessed for interference. On Sept 18, Derek Boogaard was called for a 5 minute major penalty for Interference, plus a game misconduct. In this case, an "attempt" to cause bodily harm warrants an automatic major and the gate. He missed the check but he was out there trying to hit anyone with a Red Wing jersey on.

Now all we need is for divers like crosby/ribeiro/briere to have a field day and half of our roster will be in the locker rooms by second intermission... tommyv
That pass on the first goal was dynamite, he tries that move more and more now, and I think its an excellent weapon on our PP.

Guest Miltie01
Lats had a good game !!!! Much as I have posted in the Kovy thread, we need to see this on a more consistant basis this season. That goes for all the guys. Lats can be very good if performing his best. fourtrax
Lats played a very good game last night. Kudos to him for realizing he needed to up his level of play. Good stuff, Guillaume!
Dutch
Its all about working hard and setting his mind to it, with a main focus on producing, and thats just what he did last night, but this is something he needs to do every game. Consitancy is a big point right now his current stage of development. Keep it up Lats!!!
fourtrax
At this point Lats has to prove he is not the next Pierre Dagenais. Ouch. Personally, I don't think Lats will turn out to be a Dagenais. He has far more natural skill, and unlike Dagenais, he is willing to use his size effectively. I also think he has more desire to excel than Dagenais ever had. That being said, you are correct that the onus is on Latendresse to prove that he isn't just interested in coasting around the ice looking for his linemates to hand him scoring chances on a silver platter.
