gracie12
Murray is a a very underrated part of this team. He fights, kills penalties, blocks shots, hits everything that moves, and is a sparkplug for the team.He also has blazing speed. At the risk of going off topic - i agree. If Latendress is taking anyone's spot, it shouldnt be murray's. With everyone healthy, I suspect it will be a fight between Lats/Kostitsyn/Perez for 2 spots. If there are injuries...who knows who will get spots on the top lines...

I agree, he's completely hidden from public view but if you watch him you'll realise he's an important part of the club. He brings grit, decent hockey sense and good skating skills. Good move on Gainey's part to trade Hossa for him. I think Murray is a little comparable to Begin in what he brings to the table.
gohabs89
To say it wasn't well deserved would be wrong. Congrats Gui on making the team, and heres to a 20+ goal season!
Guest JL
Okay everyone, let's keep this on Latendresse. There is a thread on Murray, Downey, Kostitsyn and Perezhogin, as well as a thread on the cuts at training camp. Thanks.
Guest NothingGreater
Gui Who? Honestly the only place i've pretty much heard of this guy is from these boards and on the Canadien highlights from sportsnet. Honestly, I don't see him in any hockey mags or what have you, they haven't brung him up on hockey central yet... But what do I know right, i'm only from Western Canada. His numbers looked impressive. He's big. A new French superstar(No matter how many of you bash the media for over exploiting this kid, Montreal needs a new French Canadian to cling onto, like Lafluer or Roy, though to a lesser extent). I hope he can produce in the season, it will give us 4 good lines and get us the heck out of these dark ages...

Guest Sudbury Saturday Night
they havent announced yet what happens with Kostitsyn. The press release simply said that Latendresse is under contract. But there are already several players under contract that are playing in the minors. I'd wait until Kostitsyn is confirmed as being cut and Carbo says exactly "Latendresse will start on October 6th" before celebrating. As to Latendresse's future performance, I have a bad feeling. Hopefully, he'll be good. It's official Kosti's been cut http://www.canadiens.com/eng/news/redirect...newsItemID=5220 Canadiens make final cuts (09/29/2006) PRESS RELEASE MONTREAL – Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Friday that six players have been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Twenty-four (24) players are still at training camp, including one injured player (Francis Bouillon). The six players who will report to Hamilton are: forwards Andrei Kostitsyn and Mikhail Grabovski (injured), as well as defensemen Ryan O’Byrne, Dan Jancevski, André Benoit and Jean-Philippe Côté (injured). Guest hogtownhabsfan
Sticking to Latendresse, if someone were to cheap shot him and with his concussion history, we need someone like Murray to step in there. I hope to see Gui paired with Johnson, Murray paired with Begin, Samsonov paired with Kovalev, and the Higgins/Koivu/Ryder line stay in tact as our #1. Then lets see who Ribiero, Bonk and Plekanec play well with. Its great to finally have a power forward, I think Gui will change the entire dynamic of the team. I was hoping nobody would say that. He'll have to keep his head up playing that style of game for sure. Not like in the preseason.

I'd rather see Lats moved on the 2nd line with Samsonov going on the 3rd line. It would add an aspect that both don't have. However, the 2nd line would be too big of a defensive liability. Now, let's all remember he is *only 19* and he will have ups and downs this season...but I cannot wait to revisit my childhood years and chant "GUI! GUI! GUI!" Either way we have a GREAT (10 deep if you include Perez and Kostitsyn), group of wingers. Hopefully our centers after Koivu can step it up. Linkinpooch
For the pronounciation just try La - Town - Dress. You're not going to get it spot on but this will be the closest (imo), just like most french speaking people can't pronounce "TH" properly.
