Guest TheFly
i think gainey seen sumthin in this kid, and i think it was more about the home town boy coming in, we have to many euro's on this team already, time to go back to our heritage...la habiton!also if kostitsyn was that good don't u think he'd be up here instead of lapierre:S Nope because the only room for lappiere was the fourth line and it would be a waste for kostitsyn look what happened to Perezhogin

tommyv
thats the most ridiculous thing i've read in a long time. Kostitsyn who has 17 points in his last 9 games in the AHL, for Esposito? who cares where they are from, it has nothing to do with their performances. Perezhogin has done quite well for a occasional 3rd liner, often 4th liner, sometimes scratched player.

Would never happen. Honestly Id get rid of Koivu Kovalev Sammy and a whole bunch get Kyle Calder and start from scratch like this. Ryder Grabovski Higgins Kostitsyn Plekanec Calder Latendresse Chipchura Johnson Ferland Lappiere Begin Markov Komesarek Cote Streit Dandenault Boullion Even if it starts out terrible give it time to work Calder Ryder Latendresse are all Potential 30 goal scorers, and higgins johnson and pleks are corner guys..Grabs and Kostitsyn play makers. But one can dream cant he
Guest NDSuto
For some reason i still believe that Latendresse wasn;t carbo's decision but managements to keep on the team because they new they would have made profits off of him with t-shirts and jerseys.Honestly we have so many better rookies than this kid. Yeah they gave him 2.5M$ to sell some jerseys for 30K$...
Guest detritus
And yes, if Kostitsyn was a grinding 4th line shut down center he would have been here prior to Laps. But, Kostitsyn is a scorer/sniper winger, who will be able to net us 20-30 goals a year soon (hopefully) so why risk injuring him/disheartening him/changing him away from pure goal scorer simply because we have an open roster spot. He needs to mature one or two more years, then he will be very deadly, and HOPEFULLY, he can play on line 2 w/ lats on one side and Grabs centering the two of them. That would be a great line to watch!
La-ville-est-hockey
doesnt protect the puck very well when its on his stick, and i expect him to stop doing moves in the slot as well.
Guest stevesaku
this kid shouldnt be on the second wave of the powerplay-mike boone and his pivot move in the zone when trying to break in but realizes he is too slow is becoming predictable
Guest detritus
I truly believe that for 1-2 more years Lat's needs to be on a 3rd-4th line setting. As of right now, he seems to be matching up against other teams top shut down lines/ top players. This is not the place for him, he is not wiley enough, has not learned enough tricks yet to make up for his downfalls. Whereas everyone now has learnt how to exploit his downfalls. In a 4th line setting he could learn to be defensively sound while adding a bit of a scoring punch, as he would be paired up against other 4th liners. And against 4th liners he can definitly shine, he clearly has the skill set to be a good goal scorer at some point in his career, but lets hope we don't burn him out long before we see that potential come true. aegrith
he played an excellent game last night, some people are WAY to over analizing his play. Even the florida annoncers said this kid is the real deal and will be a scorer. He played excellent on a team thats not trying. Come on guys, can we never say ANYTHING positive? Guest habinto
Lats is playing just fine on the 2nd line. He is playing better than expected. We all knew that we had to invest some time for this gem to shine. Going back to Junior would have been a step backward in his development so they kept him in Mtl. It is not that complicated to understand is it?

Guest detritus
He is learning fast IMO.I have no problem with him being on the big club> I doubt anyone has a problem seeing him the the big club after witnessing that he can produce at this level. It's just that how many vets that have consistantly put up numbers are being snubbed at the cost of developing a rookie? He has shown that he can make oppurtunities on the 4th line, he has good chemistry with Laps, so why not use him where he is best? He is to slow atm to be trying to keep up with plek/kovy! I would much rather see that second line spot go to Johnson a career 40-60 point man, who has proven he can produce, and let Lats develop at his own pace. Not to mention, against 4th liners, he won't come off as slow, he will be around the same speed as them, and greatly out skill them allowing many more scoring oppurtunities! I'm not saying put him down to the 4th line simply because he's a rookie, but that he should go down to the 4th to open up the top 6 spot to a veteran winger, and allow him to work against weaker opposition. Guest jeff33
i actually agree with this id be using higgins and sammy in those top 6 LW spots, even on the PP. even perezhogin deserves more chances. i like lats laps 4th line thats a young tough line with built in chemistry where they have a chance to develop without too much pressure to produce. we r asking and expecting alot from him
Guest Tony Montana
Latz has to start doing the stuff tht made him make this team. FORCHEK and HIT EVERY OPPOnent u see. He used to scare the d, he would have a big hit every couple shifts, now he died down and personaly i think is one of our worst forwards of late. He has to crash the net and stop dancing around with the puck! and pass it in the corners he thinks he bertuzzi in the corners holds the puck for liek 15 seconds going back and forth then loses it, PASS IT! U made this team its ur 1st year act like it! He plays like hes been on the team for 5 years and his not scared of being benched, carbs should teach him a lesson and he shuold be benched 1 game. I think you are just seeing him wander due to the state of the team and the lack of leadership at the moment. I think it is too be expected from a kid his age in the league for the first time. Guest TheFly
Latendresse played yet another terrible game tonite causing the first gola by columbus. I did appreciate his gesture when he slammed the door shut of the bench, someone should bring him back down to reality and he should stop thinking he's a superstar because he's far from it. At the game everyone near me was getting mad when he had the puck. He hasn't had a bad rookie season. But it certainly hasn't been good enough for me to be convinced that it was worth burning a year off his UFA deadline. As far as his devlopment goes, I really don't know if this has been the best thing for him or not.
franck5890
Not the strongest game (he looked surprised when the puck would land on his stick sometimes), but he's shown some bright spots this season. And with Free Agency looming for some of our forwards, it might not have been such a bad idea to get him a year of experience; we could be a very young team next year, and every bit of experience is going to count positively. dubbya
Tis a good point, regardless of Gui's success this year, (personally I think he's done quite well) It's important to build your team's future now... Just look at the Flyers
