gosouray44
He made things happen last night!! Looked good. Now that Kots and him are in the NHL people can stop their comparision about how Guy stole Kots spot because he is French and all that . Exactly and IMO, they both DESERVE the spot right now... Guest Habsfan_11
I'd say that considering the amount of ice time Gui gets compared to other players, nobody on the team creates more of his own chances than Gui. He just always finds a way to dig the puck out of the corner and get it to the net himself, if he can't find a pass. He's been very impressive lately!! Guest habsFREAK27
I have to admit Gui played a great game vs boston. I just still can't understand why people keep believing he is the best player this month so far. I don't think it is true. Before this game, Gui did score and all but I think he was slow and didn't play like he used to. Why do you think he is not on the 1st line? probably because he was beeing too slow with Koivu. He is doing great with laps and kovy, hopefully this line can hold for long

This is from the lions mouth "Carbs" during the pregame show yesterday. This to all those who think +/- is completely worthless. Anway GUI is playing great. I'm not sure how many hes scored, but I think it's 4 goals in the last 5 games? Hes doing very well and is probably our strongest forward along the boards in the offensive zone right now. It use to work tho, but Gui isn't the same defensivly since a while

Guest detritus
yup i think so too. there both playing gr8t.... and there BOTH young wait a few years  woo watch out! Truly, i believe Lat's will be a very good player. However, i don't think whatsoever that he will be a STAR in the league. Look at other youngsters. Guys like Kovulchuk came into the league at 19, and put up 40 goals. They are the true stars of the league. Lats will develop to be a GREAT second line powerforward. He could also develop to be a solid first line winger. However, i don't think that he will develop to be that number one all around go to guy we are so desperately needing. However, i truly hope that he proves me wrong, as he already has once. In the beginning i didn't believe that he deserved the roster spot, but when all said and done, he could well have a 20 goal season this year. Sorry for doubting Lat's, Congrats on the great season. Here's to further development and proving me wrong a second time!
timtomtimmy34
i dont know about that mr gui actually had more ice time then koivu last game. But at the same time our 4th line was one of the best lines we had

Guest habinto
in fact kovalchuck had 29 goal and 22 assist on his rookie season at 19yo with a lot more ice time than tender You must still see his point of view. Those 2 players are not comparable and Kovachuck should (probabilities) should be a big star than Lats. I love Lats and I think he will shine brightly in the NHL. No reason for him not have a John Leclair type of carreer. But Kovachuk will, in all probabilities shine brighter. And I always thought Lats earned a spot with the Habs. Especially given that going back to Junior would not have helped his progress.

I dunno with guys like Grabovski Chipchura and Kostitsyn(i dunno if hes permanent yet) waiting to get on the team, Latendresse can be another Dagenais, remember what happened with him...he did well and then bam, never heard of him again, So lets wait in see with Lats right nbow he's not the start everyone thinks he is, he's an average player right now. Not even close to accurate comparison. Dagenais didn't have half the hockey sense at his age than Thunder does at 19. Dagenais was unable to create plays, make passes, hit....well do anything except shoot really. Not even close. This kid is for real. Better get used to it. If you call this average at 19 years old, going straight from junior to NHL level then you're not watching the same player I'm seeing.

I think the point is that for a 19 year old he has achieved, if not surpassed, expectations. I agree that is is still too early to make conclusions about what type of player he will ultimately be but the available information does allow people to dream a little and be exited. I am exited by his performance.
crognalsen
I think if he can put 15-25 goals a season that will be enough. The way this team is moving it's going to win more through balenced scoring and defense then through an overpowering offensive attack. If you have 4 lines of players that can score 15-25 goals a year and play good defense then you should come out with a pretty good team overall. You just wont rely on one player to get the offense done.

They took 10 years to build that team and drafted and kept their young prospects. He said he admired Gainey for staying put and not making a pressure trade at the deadline ("even though we fans and media don't always like it") Buffalo has 4 solid lines rolling and 3 or 4 guys on the team and on different lines with 30+ goals. 4 lines that can score and are defensively responsible is the future of this game IMO. As for Lats, I think he'll become a regular 30 goal scorer IMO and the type of clutch guy that scores in those big moments

Unfortunatly Buffalo has a couple of players that are doing better then 20 goals and they will probably be getting big raises in the offseason. It's not always a bad thing to have a lot of guys in the 20 goal range.

A team with 4 20 goal scorers, especially if they happen to be spread out across 4 lines will almost certainly be in the post-season. Providing of course they have a good defensive system and a goalie to do the job. And yes, you will inevitably run into the day where these kids become UFAs and you can't keep them all. So he did score close to 40 as a 19 year old, but he wasn't a rookie. You can't compre Gui to Kovalchuk anyways, I don't expect to see 50 goal seasons or Rocket Richard trophies from Latendresse.
