Lats will probably become a steady 25-30 goal scorer for us down the road, anyone who is expecting more is really just setting the bar too high, the kid is great, i like him alot, i think he is full of great weapons, but his lack of foot speed will always stop him from being the dominant player alot of people hope he will become.

He will hold an NHL job his whole career, and be a good 2nd line player down the road, i don't expect anything more, and i dont think its fair to expect anything more either.

Heh Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille weren't fast either, but they put the puck in the net a lot. I think he will be a 15-25 goal scorer, but it's hard to tell right now. He certainly has some weapons with his stickhandling, streangth, and sneaky shot.

Hull and Robitaille played in an era where speed and skating wasnt as important as it is now.

I agree with Link, he'll be a decent 2nd line winger, probably another Ryder, because Lats too is streaky(yes I know he's young but so are a lot of players). Lats will be a 20-25 goal scorer, too bad he lacks foot speed, and sometimes is selfish along the boards, but 2nd line player aint bad.

You can't compre Gui to Kovalchuk anyways, I don't expect to see 50 goal seasons or Rocket Richard trophies from Latendresse.

Also, you'll have to consider that Kovalchuk is on a very offensive minded team on their first line with high expectations. ;)

I think ever since Kostitsyn joined the team and the 2nd line started to click that Latendresse has been left out of the picture. He hasnt been talked about as much as he used to be. Now that we have Ryder Plekanec Higgins Streit Lappiere and Kostitsyn playing great I think Latendresse has been left out of the picture. Even though he has 16 goals and 29 points I still believe that once he's able to go to Hamilton that he should go because he's not solid nor consistant enough to handle the nhl yet.

Just my opinion

I don't believe he can go to the minors as he has played a certain amount of games already at the NHL level. He gets to play with Koivu sometimes like last game in the third period and he gets to play with Kovalev. Hes seems a streaky guy. He had around 5 goals in 5 games. He has had a few of those kind of streaks this season and gone a long time after without a goal. I think hes fine.

I respect your opinion but don't you remember the line he form with Lapierre and Kovalev? If Lapierre plays great, as you said, how could you ignore Latendresse's play?

because even when Lats is not there Lappiere is playing great with Kovy and begin by his side.

Yesterday agaisnt Ottawa Kovy deked the a few players and then Latendresse got right in his way and stopped him. Ive seen this quite a few times. Especially in the corners where he's right behind his own player. This why I think he should be sent to hamilton(when he's eligible) Not for a long time but for a little while. Should teach him more solid positioning and better defensive skills. It did wonders for Kostitsyn and should do the same for Latendresse

Well his defensive play has improved a lot since the begining of the year. He was not in Montreal to break records and to scored 20 goals so he did a real great job this year. I don't see why he should go in the AHL if he can play and compete in the NHL, I think it would just slow down his development. His hits are not as good as they could be but those thing can be improve during the summer and the training camp.

i say stick him with koivu, thats when he seemed to play his best, now that higgins is doing great on the seconds line with plek, and kost. that line has to come back next season, i only expect great things from them

A few things he needs to work on in the off season

1) His physique, Needs to build more muscle lose some of that fat

2) His skating abilities

3) His puck handling, I find he is always looking down @ the puck, He needs to look @ the goalie / ice in order to create plays

I agree, this was his first real taste of the NHL and I hope he goes into this offseason with a real good idea of what it takes to be a pro in this league, if he comes to camp with improved skating and in better shape, there's no telling how good he could be.

And he doesn't have to skate like Dandenault or anything, just needs to be up to par for the course.

I am quite sure the team will have him working on the necessary things.

All in all a decent first season for him.
