Guest Banishing Blade
Not sure why that trade discussion came up but Wolski definately does not suck. Agreed. Wolski doesn't suck, but I don't see a real point to trading two prospects for one. Latendresse is 19, and is a prospective power forward -- someone I'd like to see remain on the team and benefit from being a rookie with his coach. The two can grow together, along with the other young guns on the team, and this could lead to a potentially deadly threat to other teams. No doubt Wolski's good, but I wouldn't give up a younger player and a defensive prospect for him.
ricxxx
<Edited> Treat your fellow members with respect. -weepingminotaur 99% of us Habs fans love what we've seen from Lats, The guy is a breath of fresh air, he plays hard, throws hits, his effort is always there. This for the the Wolski guy AKA stat-man. Lats played most of the year as a 19 and played mostly on the 3rd and 4th lines. Wolski plays about 3 minutes more per game and got more QUALITY minutes than Lats, but only scored 6 goals more come on, I bet Lats gets at least 22 this year, and will do it at 20 years old. I will bet Wolski lover that in just 3 years Lats will be a very important go to guy for us, and will be a better player than Wolski. For just us Habs fan Wolski lover this is not for you to read so stop reading. Guys I think Lats can be the best goal scorer we have had since Richer blasted 51. Now I'm not saying he will score 50 that is really tough these days but I think around 40 give or take is very possible, and I think he will do it, and that would make him the best goal scorer since Richer. No more trade talk about Lats.

tommyv
he will become a regular 25 - 35 goal scorer soon, a top 6 forward capable of 60 - 75 points per season, thats where I see Lats going with his career, he won't be a show stopper but he will be a very good player, who will play a long career in the NHL as top 6 forward. Often he is just standing around waiting for someone else to make something happen, as opposed to reading the play and getting himself in a spot where his linemates can use him. Guest d80jcrant
Is 50-60 Points too much to ask for from Gui this year?? I would like to see him get over 20 goals and maybe 50-60 Points. Hopefully he will have another good training camp and have a good season. If the whole Habs team can avoid injury and not slump for months at a time I see Gui being a pretty consistant point getter game in game out for the 2007-2008 Season. He should only get better each year now.

Fifty points may be attainable if he has the right linemates, works harder, improves his game, and gets the bounces, but I certainly wouldn't expect it of him or consider his season a failure if he didn't hit 50. Sixty is just unrealistic. Sheldon Souray, one of our best offensive weapons last year, only got 64 himself. Forget total points. I'd like to see him score 20 this year and just be a more consistently dangerous player night in and night out. That and he needs to improve his foot speed and play without the puck. If he does the two latter things, the goals and points will come.

Only a matter of time and he will break out. So I guess what you are saying is 20-20 for 40 points. Anything else is gravy. I do agree though line mates will play a huge role to if he does better. We tend to put some stats as a form of gaging performance and directionally it makes sense. But I want to see improvements in his game which includes quantitative factors (goals and assists) and qualitative factors (foot speed, leadership maturing and such) to. tommyv
this year I can see him hitting 21 or 22 goals, considering he stays healthy. but 60 points is pushing it, i think were looking more along the lines of 45-50. He will require more than just 11 minutes of ice to do that though, so if he is stuck on the 4th line, forget that.
Guest future canadian
I think he will be good. He wont be an MVP of the NHL but he will be good.( He might but theres a long way to go) I find he needs to work on his skating. I find hes a bit too slow but thats just me lol.But everything else about him is great. Hes a great player with heart. He's still a young player. He'll develop into a good player and help Montreal a lot and WILL win the cup. GO HABS GO
Guest Marco-Parente
The way he skates is due to his size. Guaranteed this summer they'll have him on a training plan suited for him. This season it would be a good estimation to say he'll get about 40 points(20-20).
Guest GDECHANTAL
I thing gui will score 25 goal this year,I believe he'll play with koivu and kovolav, and ryder will be move for a big centerman, because ryder and latendress are both finisher and ryder has proven he can score 30 + in the nhl ,lats is also going to get stronger, please let him develop ,remember john leclair a fellow vermonter we traded because he could not skate or stay on his feet moving east to west that was one of the worst trade, desjardin and leclair , let get back to latendress ,he'll be good ,how good will depend on his work ethic, go hab go
Guest TheFly
I think Lats will play on the 3rd line this year. On the top two lines we have Ryder Koivu Kovalev Higgins and Kostitsyn. Thats 5 out of 6 spots. With all these rumors that Gainey is going to get a big center might fill that 6th hole. I think that Kostitsyn should be playing on 1 of the top two lines rather than Lats because he is less physical and his offensive talents just blow my mind, especially the way he played at the end of the season. Remember Kosts was a top 5 pick, but his sickness left question marks on him. If the rumors come true and we do get Marleau I can very easily see the team being this. Higgins Marleau Kostitsyn Ryder Koivu Kovalev Latendresse Plekanec Lahti Lappiere Chipchura Begin And for his points I say that they wont change that much from this year unless he improves a) His defensive game b ) his foot speed or else I doubt he'll get high minutes on a team that rolls 4 lines. I say 15 goals and 30-35 pts
Guest GDECHANTAL
we are going to have to trade for marlow ,ryder is the player with the most value that we could trade and not lose to much of the team, lat's should play with saku because of his physical presents ,will give saku more room, and help protect him kovolav is going to play with saku because bob and guy have conmitted to him ,most like kostsysn and higgins would play with marlow ,and maxwell is going to be the dark horse ,he will surprize many, lapierre ,chipchara and our best score in the ahl dancon milroy ,please do not forget him may surprize many also ,and there may be another trade or UFA sign

SJ are losing a couple of defensemen due to UFA. They are short of a backup goalie. Offering Danis Halak or Huet a couple of draft picks plus either Dandenault Boullion or Striet would seal the deal. Theres no way Gainey is going to trade Ryder. No one else on the team scores 30 goals, no one. 30 goals are hard to fill in montreal with their so called "defensive style", So it would be dumb to trade Ryder for Marleau, because if you do, you lose a 30 goal scorer for another one, a team cant win with only one 30 goal scorer, we need multiple guys who can put up 30+ goals. Right now we dont have the players to do so. Latendresse is only turning 20 and has A LOT to learn. Guys on this team came in at 22, he has 3 years of learning to do and is a long way of scoring 30 goals. Im not saying he never will, but right now he wont. Plus Latendresse playing with Saku would be much worse defensivly than Saku playing with Ryder. Latendresse was -20 playing on the 3rd and 4th line with limited ice time. He must improve defensively before he can move up. We sent Kostitsyn down for a year to learn defense, so Lats should be limited until he improves his defensive game.
