Team990 Summary with Mike Komisarek:

- Mike is in NY training with some team members. Higgins was mentioned. They do yoga. :P

- Mike called Higgins a freak due to the fact that Chris had shoulder surgury last month, and is not working really hard in training.

- Biggest thing Habs have been trying to tweak this summer, is their nutrition. And of course, speed, power, overall fitness.

- Personal goals for Mike(up coming years): "Win the Cup", "Make the all star roster", "Be apart of the Olympic Team(USA) in Vancouver."

- Komo on Brisebois: He's unsure what the position is so far, but believes the staff knows what they are doing with trying to acquire a verteran dman.

- Komo wants a dog, Mike really loves dogs.

- Mike believes that our biggest player lost this season was Shelly due to his points on the PP ect.

- For the rest of the summer, Mike plans to train: From 8am to whenever, the team is on the field-gym-and then a lil skate.(Mon-Wed-Fri)

- Tuesdays and Thursdays are yoga workouts.

- Lol Downey is there! He just took the microphone from Komo and just started talking. Apperently Aaron loves doing crosswords to help him relax.

Yoga is great for flexibility.

Higgins injury was a broken collarbone and they take time to deal with. When my brother broke his it took him 6 weeks before he had any range of movement.

It's the mental part that I find the most interesting.

Something most of the team could of used a great deal of last season.

Looking forward to see how this reflects on Komisareks physical style of game.

I don't want to burst the bubble here but everyone realizes that Komisarek is a UFA in 2 years (this season and next). At what point does Gainey have to consider trading him if we can not sign him long term. I have a feeling he will want to go home (like Souray did, Willie Mitchell did, and Brière, oops)...You can bet the New York teams will offer the moon to have him, so I wonder if this isn't his last year here.

Anyways, here's a thought...With the cap space we have, if our forwards pan out this year, could we possibly trade a prospect, say, Fischer and a vet like Dandenault at the deadline for a guy like Adam Foote, could you imagine...

Markov-Komisarek

Hamrlik-Foote

Bouillon/Steit-O'Byrne

and Brisebois as a backup/cheerleader

Adam Foote for Ficher it's not worth it.

Who knows why it was only a two year deal. Maybe Mr. Gainey felt snake bitten with the Boullion contract and was not ready to sign Komisarek to a long term contract (who knows?). I think it will depend on how good the team is in two years, or maybe he will sign as Markov opted to this year out of loyalty.

Regardless, I do question the acquisition of Foote for Fischer. Adam Foote turned 36 this summer and his playing time (due to injuries) and output is on the decline. Here they are for the past four years:

2002-2003 Avalanche 78 11 20 31 +30

2003-2004 Avalanche 73 8 22 30 +13

2005-2006 Blue Jackets 65 6 16 22 -16

2006-2007 Blue Jackets 59 3 9 12 -17

Not the type of D-man I would want at this time; especially if you lose Fischer in the process.

Just my humble hockey opinion.

I thought the same thing when I read the article. Hire the guy and his staff as our new conditioning coaches, and have him available to the whole team, both during the season and off.

Can you imagine, Komy saying he went into last season feeling fatigued? Wow, I can't wait to see his physical play now that he feels fresh.

Looking forward to seeing the fruits of their off season labors.

Being with Mike during his off season workouts, he has gotten even stronger and more confident....

He was second in the league in hits last season. Watch him become the leagues dominating D man, with some extra sizzle in his stick for scoring/assit as well.

His progression has been exciting to watch...even if his offensive numbers stay the same his physical play more than makes up for it.
