Guest Gabe3
Komi is a great defenceman but he isn't that great when it comes to scoring. Last season two goals in 71 games, that's pretty bad. But on the other hand, his job is to keep the puck out of the net, so I understand why he's quite an assistance to the team. I wouldn't like getting hit from behind by him, that's for sure.
madbox21
Huge game for Komi tonight, definitely the best I've seen from him yet. Smart plays, good pinches, beastly down low, physical. And then a little more physical. Great to see. Really don't mind that the offense hasn't followed him to the NHL (yet..?...), so long as he's solid defensively while making guys pay a price, that's all I need. Guest Captain Koivu#11
I have to agree, Komisarek and Dandenault are our best defensive defencemen. Komi's taking alot more shots at the net now too. I think carbo must have asked all the defencemen to be alot more involved offensively this year. Yes, I noticed Komi was taking a lot more shots lately. He has a cannon of a shot too! But what I like most about him is his ability to knock people down. I love his physical play. He has been very good so far this season.
Guest FirstStar
He's the most physical guy we have this year...I think he's great, been noticing him for a while now, he just seems to get better with every game. He's got a great hockey mind, he reads plays and always seems to be in the right spot. Markov seems to gel well with Komi; There were games over the years, where i felt that Markov didn't seem to give it his all. Since these 2 have been together, they've been amazing! People kept talking about us getting a D-man and we had one all the while. He's gonna be a great veteran in years to come, I hope he stays healthy and stays with the Habs...I wish him all the best! We got some great young talent, we're just now, in the last year or so, starting to see it. You can thank Gainey and Savard for these guys. I was really sorry to see Savard go. Not so great in the head office but, a great eye when it came to young talent.

Guest Gabe3
Too bad he didn't drop the gloves against Iginla tonight. I was hoping that something similar would happen. All they did was shove and push and the refs were there right away to break it up.

Iginla is one of my favorite players, but against the habs he was pissing me off, and I wanted Komi to beat him up. I could tell he wanted to scrap, but he was smart enough to realize that with the injuries we have on D we can ill afford to lose him to a broken hand or something. Thank the heavens we have Murray to step in for Downey because all our other good scrapers are D-men. Once Dandy and Boullion get back, I'm sure we will see Komi smackin people up. Guest Captain Koivu#11
Yeah, I agree with you all. Komi played a good, in your face, game tonight. He would have droped Iginla.
Guest Captain Koivu#11
I didnt know Iginla was playing... After the pushing and such with Komi, Iginla was invisible... I disagree. Iggy had many chances tonight (and thats not counting the power plays). Everytime he gets near the net with the puck, I start to get nervous because I tend to consider him a Hab killer. I think he made his presence felt tonight. But this is the Komi thread, so we shall carry on...
fourtrax
One of the CJAD announcers was saying, and I agree, that Komi has really learned to play within himself over the past year. I used to worry about him because he had a tendency to overcommit to checks in open ice and would consequently take himself out of the play, creating a scoring chance for the opposition. I think he was just trying to do too much, typical for a young player. Now he's much steadier, still delivers those bone-crushing hits, but he picks his spots, which makes him even deadlier. He'll never win a Norris, because he doesn't have much offensive upside, but he is solid in his own end.

Absolutely... till last season, I was not yet completely happy with him cause I expected more from a 1st rounder. But wow, he did not make 1 step, he made 2 or 3 steps and is so far playing like a freakin' veteran who is in the league since decades. :-) His dirty talk and provocation to Iggy even shows that he is full of confidence. Keep it rockin' Komi.
madbox21
He said he was looking forward to playing the hard hitting Flames... I'd say it definitely showed on the ice. Another awesome game from him, like weepingminotaur touched on, I'm no longer nervous when he wants to get physical now. It doesn't deter from his defensive responsibilities anymore (hopefully!). What an improvement. GO KOMI!
lindros_jr
What a physical game he brought tonight. There was one shift where he leveled 3 guys in a row and tho I cant speak french the annoucers did say his name and were laughing so Im guessing it was about him steamrolling everything in site...And I loved how he was in the face and under Iginla's skin all night long
Guest Habsters
I just love watching the kid play this year! He said at the start of pre-season that he was going to step up and boy has he ever. I hope he can sustain it (knock on wood) because if he does we have a budding star on our hands. Keep it up Kommi! 75danis
Komi was a steamroller! Was out of position on at least one goal though. Overall, I give him a B+ for the intensity!

Guest matedwa
I definately agree that Komisarek has been our best defensive d-man. He should teach Souray how to use his size and hit guys in his own end.
