Its just too dificult to tell whos gonna win a cup nowadays. Even this year, our team I'd say has as good a chance to win as anyone. So unless the team is truly awful, I can't see him leaving for this reason. Its just too hard to tell who is going to win the cup.
Guest habfan10
Sak is the man...Hope he has a career year this year hes been playing awesome hockey...On Pace for: 20G 56A 76PTS...that would be awesome for Sak! CaptainCouragous21
It's part of the game. Ray Bourque did it too. Yah but Ray did it when the Bruins were awful and had no chance of winning...The Habs have a chance to win it this year and for the next few with the makeup of the young talent so I dont see Saku doing something like that

In the playoffs anything can happen. And what about if Koivu left and then Montreal won the cup, how stupid would he feel? Unless he is nearing retirement with no cup, and Montreal is not a playoff team, I can't see him leaving. Any playoff team has a good shot at the cup. Guest 11Koivu
I hope he never leaves this team and that we do win a stanley cup for him here. If he does leave, and wins a stanley cup somewhere else, I will be damned happy that he has finally won.
Guest habs_fan1160
I'd be happy for him and support him wherever he went. I'm just really hoping he retires as a Hab, I'm not prepared to go through that much depression :/
Guest xxfannyxx
In my opinion, Koivu would never do that. But if he do wins the Stanley Cup elsewhere, I'd be so happy for him because he deserves it so much. But I really doubt he'd ask to be traded to win the Stanley Cup with another team. I think for him it's Montreal, nothing else. My:two:
Guest Kovy_Kills
This guy has made such an impact on the team. Just think back to the ovation he got when he walked on the ice the first time after leaving because of his cancer or the cheers heard when he was showed sitting in the habs locker room not long after his eye injury. He truly is a great captain that leads the team.

Guest 11Koivu
Man Koivu got hit really hard today By Ryder What the? What was he thinking, he jumped too almost kneeing him in the face
kovy1010
Koivu was a -4 tonight. That brings his total down to -3! Kovalev is now a -2! Not trying to brag or anything.. but remember how you folks were saying Kovalev is awful defensively and trying to prove it with the +- stat? Shows how much the +- stat is a joke! I totally agree with u! +/- is the most over-rated stat in hockey for forwards...I mean Joe Thorton is a minus this season to. It means nothing...I mean did Saku's play cause any of those 4 goals when he was on the ice? Absolutely not! But he was still a -4...And say Ryder stole the puck from Oli in the dzone, went coast to coast and scored, Saku would get a +1 when he had nothing to do with the goal

But you do forget to see that Koivu is missing his "partner in defense". He's playing with a rookie right now, and Michael Ryder, who's only been getting particularily better in his own end as of this year. Guess it was just an off night though, usually Saku's alright. Not to mention Aebischer was not particularily strong on the first two goals, but don't worry, I'm not using that excuse for the line's giveaways tonight
jigger-1
I invite those of you who think +/- stats don't mean anything to go have a look at those stats for the Sabres, Mighty Ducks, Red Wings and even Thrashers. The best 4 teams in the NHL right now. You'll be hard pressed to find players in the - category there. Also, look up the leaders in +/- league-wide and try and find me a member of a .500 team or lower in the top ten.

Exactly... its more a reflection of a team then a certain player thus proving the +- stat is completely useless.
