lol so people who wants to bash kovy in this thread can talk bout him, but people who wants to defend him can't ?

Because if you remind them of his 65 points in 69 games last year and point to the fact that he's only 20 games into a new season and playing hurt they'll realize they don't know what they're talking about.

im not bashing kovalev at all i didnt even say anything about him

im not speaking about you, I was just answering to habs24 who said : *koivu is getting paid the money because he deserves it, im not sure why kovalev makes what he makes*

Which is something I find bad to say considering kovy led our team in points last year and in play off

Well if you want to debate who's more important to this team, I think it's pretty clear it's Saku...

Is Kovalev overpaid? Yes I think he is... But owell... Just my opinion.

I just realized that we are going to play against Mikko koivu team, who is koivu brother (which i never knew), apperently he is good in penalty shots, personnaly i have never seen him on ice.

ya Mikko is a player that has great potential to develop into a successful centre, like Saku, but a lot bigger! He's already approaching last year's points production

Yah hes pretty sick on break-a-ways...He goes in and has entire body on one side of the post and with his long reach he flips a bankhander by the other post top shelf...Its a nice move when he does it

Dont forget

Last year , Lemaire and gainey let the Koivu brothers take the opening face-off, mikko wasnt supposed to play on that line but lemaire let him take the face-off anyways

After the game Saku mentioned how it was very nice and a class act by the coaches for letting the bros have that little something.

Unfortunately lmao, i cant remember who won the face-off.

1 1 00:00 FACE-OFF N/A - MTL won - neutral zone. MTL 11 KOIVU vs MIN 21 KOIVU

so big brother beats little brother :D

According to NHL.com Saku beat Miiko on the faceoff.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playbyplay?g...217030&period=1

Yah Minny won in OT but Miiko didnt have any points and went -1 while Saku an asisst and went +2...But Im sure Miiko still has bragging rights since his team won...Its payback time!!

If he's overpaid, it's by maybe 500k.

People get paid for what they can do in the playoffs as well, when you have proven consistency in the playoffs, you get paid more. Kovalev has been the definition of consistancy in the post-season throughout his career.

Well then Koivu is underpaid cause he is dynamite in both playoffs, regular season and is a leader.

There is no way Saku is overpaid! NO WAY!...

The guys is the best captain in the league now and not only does he inspire his team and bring so much to the organization and entire community of Montreal but the guy does perform on the ice...

And its no mistake Ryder and Higgy have become great players playing alongside him and how Gui has stepped up playing with him...

And we all know what happened last season when he got hurt in the playoffs...

The guy brings so much to the table and I can guarentee that if he didnt resign here someone would have paid him more!!!

I agree. Not only that, he commands RESPECT from fans all around the league. Not even the most insane, hard-bitten Leafs fan can really knock Koivu. Not with the heart he has.
