Guest habs_fan1160
I wouldn't see Koivu wearing another Jersey. Especially not an avs jersey. That would be ridiculous. First Roy, then Brisebois, then Théo... but not Koivu! Lol, but hmm, Av's or Leafs....lol. I think he'll retire with us, it doesn't appear that he want's to be anywhere else considering the way he plays with heart, loves the city and does great things for the franchise. Guest Hoser
He's been having a consistant, strong season so far. You can really tell he's leading the team.I wonder what he said to them during the first intermission, because they came out fired up. He's a player we can all be proud of. Great heart, great captain. I couldn't imagine anyone else leading our team. It probably went something like this: "I've got one damn eye and I'm getting more scoring chances then you guys! Wake up!" He's been playing great though, glad he recovered

habs-24
Saku finally has a first line to play with, i mean koivu suffered through the 90's with kilger, darby and all those clowns. Saku's loyalty to us should never be overlooked by anyone
tommyv
i dont think any quality shown by saku can ever go over looked, he's just such a class act and an awesome player.
Habs-fan-UK
I think this could be the year that he could put up big numbers, possibly 85+ plus. He has 9 in 7 games...He is on course for 105 points this year!
Guest Hab_in_Bermuda
If Koivu keeps this up, he should definately get the Bill Masterton Trophy again

How can you NOt think that? ic ould of told u this last year thsi is the first time in Koivus Career where he has 2 GOOD wingers!! never ending hustler higgins, and the quick release powerplay sniper ryder i wont accept anything under 80 pts
brysonom27
His actions on the first shift tonight set the tone for the team...Saku took the easy way out and took a costly retalitory penalty...he didnt seem to have any jump in his step tonight... overall I am quite pleased with his play this year though, and I think he will help all the younger players in their development
tommyv
Not the best game by the captain, when he strugles the line struggles, it was unproductive tonight and looked very sluggish, he just couldnt get his passing down tonight and coughed the puck up in the offensive zone more often than i can remember him doing so in a long time. just our luck, the 2nd line finally explodes and the top line goes into hibernation. if we can get both lines flying, things will get nasty in a mighty hurry. Koivu makes that line click, as he goes it goes, that was on display in the playoffs when Higgins was no where to be found after Koivu went down. We need the captain to stay healthy in a big way this season, he's always the glue that holds this team together, and more so then years before, we're light down the middle this season and any extended period without him will mean very big trouble. Kovalev and company had 9 games before peoplewere throwing their hands in the air.. and considering the only prodeuction has come from the top line... they are allowed to have one off game
tommyv
I never said they coudln't however i am pointing out the obvious by saying last night was Koivu's worst game of the season, aswell as the entire top line.

Agreed 1000%, with those two powerul lines, and awesome performances by both golies, some solid d, and the other 2 lines also getting some chances, we'll be unstoppable :-) Koivu has gained a lot of respect aftercancer, but people easilly forget. People actually making fun of that, and ridiculiong his performance.

I know points aren't everything, but I've noticed that Saku doesn't seem to have as much jump/speed lately and seems a little tired (could be one of the reasons Carbo gave the team Sunday off) I'm not overly concerned about his play as much as I am about his health.bw6

Koivu may have lost some if his speed lately but he stays, IMO, one of, if not the most, important player on the team. We saw it, when he or his line aren't in top shape, the team suffers. It's now time for Kovy and his line to step up and win us games like Koivu and his line have made earlier in the season.

I'm still worried about him because the first line doesn't work as well without his creative hussle and positive input. It could be depending on what teams the Habs are playing against and how they're concentrating on his line... hopefully that will change now that the second, third and fourth all had great games for once this year.bw6
Guest habgab
I agree. Koivu doesn't have his usual jump, and I too am concerned that there is something wrong with him physically. I think the line played well last night, but Koivu is off for some reason.
scotrbrtsn
Koivu does look off his game, I think as much as Koivu has padded other people point totals in the past, his two wingers are somewhat carrying him now. Hopefully it's nothing longterm or serious.
habs-24
Saku is having big time trouble picking up pucks in his feet thats easy to see, but i mean im never gonna question him again after lastyear....just having him suiting up is enough
Guest KOIVU#11
ya he's defiantly slumped a bit after his impressive start but I wouldn't sound the alarm yet. Saku knows that he needs to turn it on and if he's anything like I think he is he'll work his (butt) off to get back in the groove.
