What sweeter "revenge" than to score during a 4-0 whitewash of the team who took you out last year.  Bravo, Saku!!

GO HABS GO !!!

Koivu played a good game tonight and scored a nice goal. It's funny, just yesterday I was in this thread saying how Koivu should start some scoring mayhem, and the next day he scores his first since the season opener in Buffalo.

Even when Koivu isn't scoring or putting up points he's always doing something to help this team win and he's never taking shifts off, we're lucky to have such a captain, he does everything we need and then some.

Another great game by the Captain.

He was solid last night...sometimes it worries me because he has a lot of trouble gaining posession of the puck, espicially from big guys, but once he does he handles it well.

I'm hoping for a record year from Captain K...

Our goaltending is playing awesome, our d is finally playing well so whats the problem?

We cant expect our 4th line to score... our 3rd line has been chipping in nicely and playing solid d. So whats the problem?

Higgins has been consistently playing awesome hockey. I think the problem is Koivu/Ryder and Kovy/Sammy. The latter 2 are just not playing well right now. Yes I kno Koivu got an assist but he didnt do much on that goal. I think he just won the faceoff? Ryder has scored only once in his last 6 games and has no assists either.

Kovalev has been the best player on the second line but hes just not putting the puck into the back of the freakin net. He gets robbed, misses the net, hits the post but god damit why cant it go in?!!?

And sammy... while playing better then before is just not producing. 7 points in 13 games? Thats on pace for like 45 points.

He just won the faceoff? IMO, it's pretty important...In fact, it's crucial to win faceoffs. Koivu and Ryder aren't a problem. I'm not worried about them at all. If Higgins is that consistant, we gotta give a little credit to the captain of this team, the one this thread is about: Saku Koivu.

Nobody's saying Koivu isnt a good player. I'm just saying he needs to play better then he has the last couple of games. That's all.

I know what the man is capable of and he hasnt shown me that the last couple of games.

Aside from line 3 and a handful of others, no one has really played their "best" games the last couple. Maybe there's a flu bug going through the team, who knows. Overall though, Ive been quite happy with Saku's play this year. I think he's looked better than he has in maybe 5 or 6 years...im sure having consistent, quality wingers is going a long way for that. Dont forget that as recently as 2 seasons ago his wingers were Bulis and Zednik :D

Lol maybe. I do hope Koivu gets a couple of points tomorrow he has been good this season but the faceoffs haven't exactly been going marvelously in the past 2-3 games.

i love the fact that koivu is doing better in faceoffs with one and a half eyes lol...thats awsome

Good game by Saku last night!

I loved his reaction on Lats goal, he looked so happy for the young kid.

Also, what a goal in the shoot-out!!! Beautiful deke on Rolosson to put it in!

Did you notice how Kovalev imitated his Kaptain on the game-winning shoot-out goal

:D :D

For everyone who always trashes Koivu...did you see his reaction on the Lats goal...there is no other team player like him. He knew the goal could have been his but didn't care, was happy for the yougn guy to get his first. His interview after was all about Lats. This is a true leader and team player without a selfish bone. I don't care if he never get teh 70 pt mark...i would never trade this guy. So much heart and so good for the team. I love how excited he gets when the team scores. On a side note...priceless pic of Ryder on the goal too...what a face hehe
