Guest P.Royfan
I'm surprised his heart hasn't exploded it is so big. I admire this man so much. The crap he has been through I want Montreal to win the cup so bad and not just cause I'm a fan but because Koivu desrves it so much! This guy could have given up so many times but keeps battling back. Saku Koivu in what the Montreal Canadiens are all about!
Guest Hoser
Koivu has never put up awe-inspiring numbers, but he's one of the best centers in the league because he generates chances. Not always through passing, but through little things like forechecking and winning battles and chipping the puck, etc etc... the things that don't get you points but have a definate impact on the play. Plus he's always directing traffic out there, telling players where to go etc. Yzerman came back from having his knees completely rebuilt. Lemieux came back from cancer. Berard came back from having his eye poked out. Koivu came back from all three. What a captain.

That would have been the best fighter ever! lmao. They almost went at it!

Guest HabsFanSince84
I wish i could meet Koivu in Person just to say what an inspiration he is. Great Person, he's done so much for the city outside of hockey, Has a lot of heart, and is a very valuable asset to the Canadiens without whom we would not be where we are now. Remember the Playoffs last year vs Carolina? That's right 2-0 series Lead, close 3rd game, Koivu got injured, we lost in overtime and never recovered losing the next 3 game sin a row to be eliminated. I simply think if he was present in the lineup, the Canes would of stood no chance.

CaptainCouragous21
I really wanna know how Saku didnt win the inagural Mark Messier Leadership award? It was given to Brendan Shannahan! Are u kiddin me?... Forget about Saku''s past leaderships which obviously was incredible coming back from cancer etc... But he came back from that horrible eye injury to play this year on time, leads by example on the ice and does so much for the community, especially with his foundation... Mess is giving out I think 6 out all year then one big award at the end of the season. If Saku doesnt win a monthly award or the end of the year award then it will be a complete joke!! I mean seriously, who in the league is a better leader than Saku? ... I know u love NY mess but Shanahan, give me a break...If u want this award to have some credibility u will give Saku a piece of this award

That really puts it all in persepective :thumb: Not only did he come back, but he is still a great leader and a great player. He makes everybody around him better, and that is as evident as the sky is blue. I hope to have #11 play his entire career here, and see his number retired from the rafters. He deserves it. bushfirerecords
I think that at schools after they sing Oh Canada and say the prayers (for catholic schools) they should say a little speech for saku koivu! and there should be a sku koivu day! similar to fathers day or mothers day and you buy a present for somebody who is a great role model to you and a big insiration an you ggive it to them on saku koivu day!! Chef-Groleau
People will always have doubts about Saku because he's not 6'3 255 lbs... I think he's to the point in his career where he has nothing to prove anymore and is concentrated on making the team better, like helping the younger players feel like a part of the team (Ryder, Higgins, Latendresse...). That is the sign of a great captain to unite the team by example and integration... I love this guy, even though some medias have a tough time giving him credit! Koivu will never get it. Dream on. Speaking of which, I really hope we kick the Rangers' butts when they come to town. I'm really not a Shanahan fan after his snubbing us last summer.
