So far this is exactly what I thought Sammy would do on a line with Kovy and Pleks...NOTHING...This line combo just does not work at all...It makes no sense having 2 guys in Sammy and Kovy who want the puck on the boards at all times, especially with no sniper to dish it off to...Only a matter of time before Sammy is on the 3rd line watch. Not that its a bad thing but that line def. needs to be broken up

First, I live near Boston as well. We should meet up and go cheer for the Habs at some games in the gaahden.

Second, I was very apprehensive when we got him, but for different reasons.

I really don't care how he's playing--my concern is that he is cut from the same cloth as too many other Habs players, so why go out and get the same exact guy we already have? My feeling is, there are only so many small guys I can cheer for. Bouillon and Koivu are my heroes, and Samsonov is just one too many little dudes. And Wow, is he ever tiny!

As for his playing style, he seems to be too much like Kovalev. Why did we go out and get the same player, only this time in a smaller, and more injury-prone package?!

What we need is size, experience, grit, and scoring. Samsonov is none of those things, and he was the only big free agent we signed. I have no use for Samsonov on the Habs. He'd be fine on some other team, but he's redundant here.

Its pretty easy to jump the gun and judge from the comfort of our couch.

Dissapointed by the pick up because he is too much like Kovalev...is just another point that its a good thing we are not the Gm. He was picked up because someone though he would add value to the team...maybe wait atleast 10 games before we start jumping all over it.:D

And i will be the first to admit, i thought he would do more in edmonton...but i was still happy with what he did, and i was happy we had him.

Guy said today that he is gonna give the 2nd line about 5 or 6 games to come together

And that's why I'm glad that Carbonneau is the coach and not any of us. :D

I just can't believe that people are so quick to give up on the SPK line after only two games.

I agree that people are quick to jump the gun on this...

But it is starting to make me think that it's really difficult to play with Kovalev. That and past experiences with Koivu, Ribs etc.

Koivu? If I recall, the Kovalev-Koivu-Perezhogin/Zednik line was on fire last year until Kovalev and Koivu both went down with injuries. When Kovy came back, the Ryder-Koivu-Higgins line was already established and Gainey had no choice but to rotate a bunch of third-line players onto Kovy's line and hope that something would happen.

I think Samsonov will find his form on that line eventually. We just have to be patient. After all, Plekanec only showed up on that line at the end of training camp.

Wow...if you guys don't want him, send him back down South, where Samsonov jerseys line the stadium for every game.

He's a proven playoff performer, he gets nearly 30 goals every season, and usually leads the team in game-winners. And have you seen him playing with the Russian team?

I am surprised at y'all....Sergei might be the best thing to happen to Montreal since.....ah, well, since.....gimme a minnit, I'll think of it.......

Everyone take a deep breath :D

I'm very glad we have Samsonov in our team. He's a very speedy player and he made some great plays so far. But I'm hopeful and confident he will do more. Hope so, because we need him.

They did ok. On fire is a bit strong in my opinion. Nothing against Kovy or Samsonov. I'm not worried at all as they're both loaded with talent.

Remember last year when we were excited that Kovy signed long term? We thought him and Koivu would light it up. Some people were predicting a 90 point season for Saku playing alongside him. They just never jelled the way we all hoped they would. I just find people assume Kovy and Samsonov would be the perfect match for whatever reason. Same as last year with Koivu.

Habs fans demand immediate results. It's kind of sad. :D

Koivu, Kovalev, Ryder, Higgins, Souray, Markov, Huet. No wonder we don't have his jersey, there's way better(and more loyal) players on the team.

Habs fans discuss things like that. It's not demanding immediate results. Nobody said we want to get rid of the guy. Nothing wrong with discussing players on-ice performance. Yes, we're Habs fans and that's what we do.

We talk about hockey.

The line has to decide who is gonna shoot the puck.

Whether it is Sammy or Kovy , or both taking more chances someone HAS to shoot !!!!

good point......they need to hammer a few shots at the net and get some traffic in front of the opposing team's net.....its nice to look good out there but someone has to step up and let it ride or there will be few goals scored......given the talent on that line that would be sad...(not to mention - one heck of an expensive line!).....

duties need to be delegated like the koivu line...koivu - pass; higgins - pass/shoot/work along the boards ; ryder - shoot

ya I think everyone has to cut Sammy a bit of slack conidering he's only had two regular season games under his belt, give him sometime, just like that bruins fan said (still at odds to why he was here to begin with) he's one of the best things to happen to Montreal in a while, I think he'll come around. Just be patient.

Samsonov said precisely what you're talking about in an interview on RDS today... says each player has to be a little more selfish at times and just shoot instead of looking for the perfect play... at least he has an idea about how things are going so far and is honest.

Samsonov is in a feeling out process, it will definetly take time for him to get back into his groove, you think he's the only player not doing a whole lot right off the bat with his new team?

Take a look at some of these guys who have been pretty quiet with there new teams this year.

-Tanguay, he hasnt gotten into his routine tear up yet

-Demitra, not exploding in minisota yet despite playing with Gaborik

-Savard, he's not showing any signs of being on pace for another 90 point season

-Arnott, very quiet in Nashville so far

-Modin, practically a non factor yet in Columbus

These are all very established and capable players going through the same thing Sergei is going through, a feeling out process, these things take time, they take patience, and they certainly dont happen overnight, some players get on a team and click right away, most players dont, especially when you have a total of 3 games to get used to your new centerman.

I smell a troll.....

I disagree. He seemed to just be taking issue with how we're taking Sammy to the woodshed. I think he's just making a good point. And kinda funny too.
