fourtrax
Link, I agree with you 100%. When other so-called elite players on other teams are also taking time to find their form, why are we piling on Samsonov because he hasn't immediately clicked with his linemates? Don't forget, the Ribeiro trade probably added at least a week or two to the time the current line needs to gel.

Things can only improve as far as I'm concerned... as long as the three playing together can accept each others roles on the line. Sammy seems to have realized that they all can't be playmaking all of the time.bw6
Guest FirstStar
Way to go Samsonov, you had a your best game so far...The new comers played well tonight, Johnson, Samsonov and yes, even Niniima played well. I think they're starting to fit in...Very nice to see. Way to go Habs, beating the Flyers, in Philly!
Guest hatethoseleafs
Was an excellent play by Sammy to break up that scoring threat. Goes to show, there are other ways to impress without putting the puck in the net.
Guest Thibodosa
Coming back was veyr good for him...... i do think he played a better game.. that line i think needs to shoot alittle more but they are good at moving the puck and will get more chances... but sammy really seemed to skate tonight
Guest habsFREAK27
Congrats for Sammy for his 1st point in the habs uniform. IMO I still believe that Samsonov and Kovalev are both too talented to be in the same line. Wich concludes that they often lost the puck because both are very mobile. A thing I don't love in Sammy's game is that he looks too much at the puck and keeps it too much. He should passe the puck a bit more and when he does, please, don't send it where no one is there. That happens a lot, reason? He always has his head down aon the puck.

It was the first major noticeable defensive play, aside from Pleks, for our 2nd line. Congrats Sammy! Keep it on!!
tommyv
adjustments are starting to fall in place, and it wont be too long now for this line to really explode. good game by sammy tonight, he was stripping the puck like crazy from philly's defence, i love it. Guest StratfordStreak
I hope if Samsonov can't find a way to start getting some shots, he can at least screen the goalie or something for Kovalev to shoot. He did make a good effort to get back on defence on the play you mentioned, but other than that, I find his play totally uninspired in the first 3 games. bigjcc526
believe me,that is the way samsonov plays,i live in boston. he was a big underachiever here, and i dont see anything changing.great puckhandler, but that's it.i'm glad he only signed for 2 years
Guest Miltie01
Sammy has been exactly the way I expected him to be. He will put points on the board, he always has. My problem is the line needs to adjust. Him and Kovy have a very similar style of play. Someone will have to decide to be the go to guy. I'm sure they will figure it out....hopefully sooner than later. You have to remember he has to adjust to a new system, new town, new linemates etc. etc. His defensive work shows he is working so I'm pleased. Will it be worth it? We shall see. bigjcc526
sammy is a 20-25 goal .50-55 pt scorer,if you are happy with that for 3.5m$....he isn't going to magically change now that he's on our team. lots of show/style,little results
Guest arpem_can
yes we all have to be patient here....Sammy's gonna impress you in the long run....you can't teach speed and quickness and he has that already...defensively he showing signs as a team player with that comeback in Philly to break up a potential goal...that was huge and as well Kovy did the same thing by coming back on a play ...if they all buy into the system this team is going places...we're not a one-line team anymore...I thought Pleks had his worst game so far but thats going to happen to everyone this season...Niinimaa played way more solid,Souray was a rock, and Dandy had a solid game except for one questionable penalty call..Aebi showing us what a luxury it is to have two top-flight goalies ,i for one am very happy for this guy because last year he took a lot of unnecessary heat due to the fact Huet was playing great....hey guys even Pierre McGuire jumped on the band-wagon and had some positives to say about our team so things are looking up
Makal22
...we're not a one-line team anymore... we were never a one line team since Gainey took over, before though, yes you're right. Before we had Dagenais - Ribiero - Ryder After we had ??Bulis or Zednik or Perezoghin - Ribiero - Kovalev

Guest Firestar
How can you say we'll regret to have him in the team after only watching him play 3 games. Maybe we'll end up regretting him, or maybe he'll end up in the first three habs in points, we don't know, and you not more than anyone of us. we'll just have to wait and see. I personally have faith in him, I'm sure in a couple of games Kovy pleks and Samsonov are going to start getting an incredible ammount of points. Do you suppose he was born a couple months back and we decided to sign him to a Hockey contract? Secondly, one can know what's going to be better and what isn't, and one does know more than another individual, otherwise managing/coaching a team would get the same pay as flipping burgers. Either way, it's not that I feel he's bad, but a waste of space on a team trying to develop within. Myself, and others feel Perezhogin could use the extra ice time and could put up 20 goals like Samsonov does easily.

Bob sees something in this guy that I don't and I will defer to his judgement. He is a lot smarter than I. The last game Sammy plAYED much better and you can tell he is working hard. That is all I need to see, if he is working hard I trust that the results will come because Bob feels they will or he would not of signed him. As I said before....C'mon Sammy, make an idiot out of me !!!!
Dutch
Give him a few more games, and I trust he will fit, and find a way to be as much effective as possible, this ofcourse within the borders of his abbility.

All of the negative prognosticators on this thread have the stats to back them up -- he'll put in about 20 goals, get about 45 pts, and will likely be the new whipping boy in this forum, i.e. Ribiero redux, when he goals scoreless for a ten games stretch mid-season. I hope he proves me wrong, but my faith in the teams success this year has very little to do with Samsanov.
