Guest JL
Only watching three games? How ignorant is that? Do you suppose he was born a couple months back and we decided to sign him to a Hockey contract?Secondly, one can know what's going to be better and what isn't, and one does know more than another individual, otherwise managing/coaching a team would get the same pay as flipping burgers. You're stating here the reason why I trust Gainey in his decisions, including to sign Samsonov.
tommyv
Samsonov needs to put in a 3 point night again like he did in pre-season to silence some of these critics. He underachived in Boston in an underachiving team that was and still is falling apart. Anyone take note of his point production in Edmonton? How key he was to there playoof success? he's the same player now as he was 3 months ago, im not going to expect 80 points from samsonov, but the moment he gets into his comfort zone here and gets the ball rolling, i can easily see a 65 point season from him. hes had the same point production pattern his entire career, it wont suddenly change, he wont suddenly become a useless player capable of nothing good. i'm tired of having to defend practically every player that has a topic on the forums, the lack of patience from fans is astounding. Guest FirstStar
Way to go Samy, nice goal and a great job by Kovy to create a disturbance. Very happy that he scored his first goal at the home opener. This line seems to be gelling a bit more.

Guest hogtownhabsfan
The chemistry isn't quite there between Sammy, Kovy, and Pleks, but there individual efforts have provided a couple of goals so far, and I expect the chemistry to come. They were all getting chances, its their passes wern't really working. Pleks had a very good game too. That goal was a thing of beauty, and I have no idea why he wasn't in the shootout! I go with 1. Kovalev 2. Ryder 3. Whoever is having a great game...
crognalsen
Higgens and Koivu both had good games. Thats probably why they got to take the shootout shots. I see Sammy and Kovy getting in the right places, but the passes aren't getting through at the moment.

Lets not forget that Samy almost scored twice tonight. I agree that the chemistry isn't quite there yet but, it's coming. Kovy made a great pass to the slot, Samy came very close. I really liked the way Kovy caused a distraction infront of Emery, which led to Samy's goal. If you look at the replay, Kovy actually pushed the d-man out of play; If there had been a rebound, he would've been in great position. I also liked the way Dandenault came in to protect Saku...Great team spirit, I'll say i again, this is the best Habs team I've seen in a while. Oh yeah, if I'm not mistaken, higgins had a good hit tonight as well, nice to see him playing the body.

As for someone who watched Sammy all those years in Boston playing with the reigning MVP Mr. Joe Thorton you all are getting your hopes up for no reason. Sammy is going to be a disappointment here just like he was for year after year in Boston. He is a 60 point scorer max. I guess Ill be back at the end of the year to say I told you so. BUT I do hope Im wrong and I do hope u can all throw my negativty back about Sammy back in my face

BUT I do hope Im wrong and I do hope u can all throw my negativty back about Sammy back in my face There's a lot more to hockey than just scoring goals...I'll admit he was slow starting in edmonton and didn't produce as expected but still, he was one of the reasons the Oilers did so well last season. Samy is also a bit of a pest, once he gets going, he's great at annoying the oposing team. If they're all chasing after him, it'll leave Kovy open to do his thing. Scoring isn't everything, just look at our coaching staff and GM. Not known for 50 goal seasons but great players all the same. A trophy(Selke) was created to recognize players like Gainey and Carbo; Infact, it was created by the league to recognize Gainey and players like him; Let's not forget, that the Russian themselves, yes the old red army team, called Gainey the best hockey player they've ever seen. Oh yeah, who followed in his footsteps and won the Frank J. Selke Trophy himself, yes, you got it, it was Carbo. I know Samy is not a Gainey or Carbo but, just to show you that scoring isn't everything in hockey. I find Bruins fans have mixed emotions when it comes to Samy, he's that type of player. Some Bruins fans were on here and made it very clear they would love to have him back. After spending so much on Chara, it's a wonder the bruins have enough left for a water boy. I wonder, if they hadn't aquired Chara, if they would've tried to get Samy back. I know a lot of fans still like the little guy, there must be a reason for that. I understand what ur saying but Sammy is NOT a defensive player so u talking about the Selke trophy etc. is so not even close to who he is. He is an offensive player and is weak in the Dzone. He is not a grinder or checker. He one thing is point producing thats it. ANd the fact he has topped out at 75 points and his next closest was 70 points does not bode well for him with all this fan fare. There is a reason why Sammy was traded by the Bruins midseason for a bag of hockey pucks. He is a career underacheiver! If he couldnt get more then 75 points playing with Joe Thorton do u really expect him to even come close to that here???
franck5890
I always thought he was fast, but never realized he was THAT fast. He's essentially a smaller, faster version of Kovalev, little less scoring talent but a great passer. Obviously can't be too physical, but that goal tonight was pure magic, and I hope it's a sign of more things to come.

Maybe it's better if he stays invisible. He has a lot of "WTH?" scoring chances sometimes.
Guest habsFREAK27
UYes Sammy if very fast, I love it, he is sometimes too fast that he is always doing his pass too early without looking for a player and do a straigt pass. He often send it to nowhere. Congrats for his 1st goal, it was very nice!
Guest zachary-jean
Congratulations on first goal as a Hab...a big one too. It's too bad we couldn't get a win. In my nhl07 dynasty I traded Samsonov because he was too fast. haha...I'd have a breakaway and have to shot as a crossed the blue line or else he'd run into the goalie. hahaha
