Guest jfk0202
This is the same thing that is happening to Tanguay in Calgary. Hasn't done anything and he was playing with Iginla top line. Both players are coming from different teams that play entirely different than their current ones. Give him time. He is not the saviour (liek Tanguay is not Calgary's saviour) but he is a good addition...Needs to adapt tot he new players and the different style of play. I agree Edmonton is as similar as a western team gets to the east..yet still not the same system. A lil while longer...
tommyv
I hope they start booing him soon, prove once again to all the other free agents why they SHOULDN'T sign here, and maybe after NO free agents even want to think about coming here, maybe that will be the slap in the face some of these fans need to get some patience with our players and understand that not everyone jumps into a new team and burns up the league. So impatient with Ribiero we were and bam he gets shipped off finally to satisfy you all and is tearing it up elsewhere, not even getting top line minutes. Im tired of all this negative garbage towards players slumping, im tired of us burying them rather than rallying behind them. Who else are we going to spit on until they are shipped off? first bonk, and how quickly he fixed some of your opinions, then Theo, who still may very well bite us in the behind down the road, then Ribs who is already biting our behinds, is Samsonov next? then Ninnima maybe? we make ourselves look ridiculous, i feel so embarassed that other teams fans are coming here reading nothing but negative feed back on our newly aquired players, what great fans we look like here, and then we whine till we drop when Gainey cant make significant signings? get used to it folks, we keep this kind of nonsense up its only going downhill from here and we prove exactly what everyone is starting to think, that no matter who you are, what you've done, the moment you drop the ball you will be choped down at the legs by the city, the media and most disturbingly, the fans. Forget the whole "people want to wear the jersey with pride or play for this great traditional franchise" argument, thats no longer valid, we start constantly booing 1 or 2 players out of the city every year, free agency for this team is over, finito, pointless, useless, the list goes on. tommyv
Carbo Targeted the line not Samsonov, as a coach he has to make changes, but he is certainly not cutting down his own players, thats what i have to say about what carbo said
Guest Miltie01
Sammy definately has skill, but I did not like his signing as he was more of the same, a smal talented playmaker. I do feel he can have an impact on the team, any player of his skill level would. Maybe he needs a different line. Maybe him and Kovy just play to similar a game. They both lie to lug the puck, dipsy doodle and control the play and never get a shot off it seems. Either pair them with a shooter or decide amongst themselves who will be the lines sniper. I hope they get it straightened out and he starts producing like he can. It would me alot of people feel better, including him. I can see he is trying very hard...One thing Ican say is he seems to have a lot of pride and that I really like.

So whenever we as fans look at the players, perhaps it would pay to look at who the player is playing with... it is a team game afterall and chemistry is not always easy to come by.bw6
lindros_jr
Is it to late to tear up that contract? I honestly think BG never watched a Bruins game in his life bc everyone who watched or followed the ***** knows how he underachieved for his career except his rookie year and thats playin with Joe for all those seasons. lindros_jr
Have you ever made a positive post? Not about Sammy I havent, and I wont either. Ive watched him do nothing but under achieve for his career and thats playing with one of the best players in the NHL, Mr. Joe Thorton himself. And once again, he was basically traded to Edmonton for NOTHING. And then Edmonton didnt even try to resign him. Then he gets signed to a 3 year pretty big contract with the Habs and people expect him to score 80 points and think hed be a difference maker. Tell me one reason why people should have thought Sammy would do anything for this team based on his career?

Tell me one reason why people should have thought Sammy would do anything for this team based on his career? First of all Sammy didnt play much with Joe Thornton. He played with Nylander most of the time and then Bergeron the last 2 years. If you say Sammy was traded for basically nothing then so was Joe Thornton. So was Kovalev. Whats your point? jordi
I'm pretty sure Edmonton offered him to come back but against Roli's 4 mil and Horc's 3.6 mil he wasn't going to get the same deal - besides almost every single skilled player is paid quite a lot now and really gives way for high expectations. And along with the Pronger fiasco he wasn't needed for the top heavy team. There were a lot of people who had faith in him in Edmonton and I know a lot of fans who went to see the practices there this preseason still had Samsonov t-shirts. I'm having trouble with seeing the extreme hate of this argument. I know you could keep pushing him down the depth chart. But is he the worst player on the team? I don't really think so. And don't give me any of that "He's on a minus" crap. Thornton's on a minus. These stats are really holding little weight when it's only been a couple of games. I just really want to see what will be a surefire solution to this problem. Because we got experts working on it and they don't seem to be clicking their fingers and fixing it all. tmash
then Theo, who still may very well bite us in the behind down the road, He may, but trading Garon could of bitten us in the behind, hey Eric Fichaud who we let go, could have gone on to be a great goaltender. Obviously those 2 don't have Theo's past, but the point is you never know. I think losing Theo's contract was well worth the risk. Since his vezina season he has had one poor, one average, and was on track for another poor season. I was harder on Theo than I usually am, because at least with a forward not scoring, it isn't costing your team hugely. But when a goalie can't stop a beachball, it makes it far too hard to even win a game. then Ribs who is already biting our behinds I would completey disagree with that. I expected him to go on and score. He is a talented player, but I don't miss him at all. Weak skater, poor defense, bad attitude, it all added up and he just wasn't worth it. I wasn't expecting he'd leave an not get any points. I'd expect a 50-60 point season from him, that doesn't change that I'm happy he's gone. But I do agree that I can see why players don't want to play in Montreal. I mean at a certain point we have to say Samsonov was a bad signing, but it takes more than 6 games. Look at Kovalev when he first came here, he finished the season on the fourth line I think. Players desrve to be scrutinized, but give it some time. Plus Samsonov at least has one goal, doing better than some other players who got bigger deals than hium.
crognalsen
Good job Sammy. Kovy and Sammy are really starting to find eachother with thier passes out there. They need to keep moving and get open without the puck more often though.
Guest Gabe3
Yeah, that was a great goal. Excellent pass on the backhand by Kovalev. I won't be surprised if that makes it in the top plays of the week. That was great
