CaptainCouragous21
Looks like Pleks might find himself on the 3rd or 4th line after tonight...He once again failed to do anything offensively and when Sammy/Kovy/Perez were put together they were flying and playin well...What does Carbo do now?...Ive been sayin all along that Pleks deserves a lot of blame for the 2nd lines woes so maybe Carbo saw that tonight and realizes Pleks isnt ready to take that offensive leap...Who knows

The line just didn't have the right chemistry though.bw6
Guest Keith
Everyone keeps bashing Sammy and Kovy but I think its time people start looking at Pleks bc he really has not done much all season. He is barely noticable every game and as a center thats not a good thing. He def. needs to pick up his play big time! Hes been a huge disappointment thus far He's not ready for it, it's that simple. tommyv
regardless, he created alot of opportunity on the 4th line, he almost gave Begin a breakaway twice, and forced the 2 on 1 with murray, perhaps on a line that gets alittle less defensive attention, he might be the sparkplug we need on the 4th line to get it producing. Putting Begin back on the wing with a good center (either Plekanek or Bonk) shoudl let him pick his game up. This will all depend on whether Kovalev is able to successfully play as a center. Guest newton
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PLEKS! Hope you can find your place in the team now that the SPK line didn't work out.
gracie12
I agree with you here again Link as I did in the Perezhogin thread... It's not about effort (he's given it his all), but rather about where he can excel... and I believe that isn't the second line center position... I'd rather see him with Bonk on the 3rd or with Begin on the 4th, not because he doesn't merit the opportunity, but because that is where his skill and work ethic can best be used for the best team results.bw6 I tend to agree with that. Pleks has skill, there's no question, but imo there's one of 2 things happening here: 1) he's more of a complete player - and as such is better suited to a checking role - like bonk. bonk has tons of skill, but he's at his best when he's playing 2 ways. 2) he's not quite there yet. maybe in a year or 2 he will be ready, but right now, imo, he's just not quite at the level to be able to play great offence - yet. Its tough to say which it is, but IMO you cannot question his work ethic. He is trying out there, its just not quite working.
crognalsen
I don't think the Russians play the same style of play as Pleks. I believe if he played with Higgens/Ryder/Koivu he would produce more offensively. Perhaps he is better off playing with some hard working grinders anyway. CoopII
Pleks is great. Period. If he wasn't, or if the coaches didn't think he was, he would not have even wound up on the SPK line. And in his defense, the SPK line wasn't stellar... The chemistry wasn't there. I agree with the previous posters on the point that he is more of a role player with tons of skill. The scoring touch may come later, but until then, keep playing him and giving him chances to prove himself. He won't let us down.

I think Plekanec has been doing pretty good so far. He gives it his all every shift. Just because he hasn't scored a goal yet doesn't mean he's not playing well. I blame his lack of point production on the fact that he hasn't really had any chemistry with Sammy and Kovy.

Guest silversnake
No post in here yet ? Great game he played tonight i felt, and what a goal!! First he gets that BIG check and then he steals the puck and races off. I just loved the image of him in the middle of both Carolina defenders and speeding right past them and him hitting that shot top Shelf. I'm glad he finally got his goal and he played a great game tonight . I think he's been able to relax and just play now that he's on the 4th line
Guest Captain Koivu#11
Wow, im impressed with how he played tonight. I think he's been able to relax and just play now that he's on the 4th line That's also what I thought when I saw the whole scene. I laughed when I saw that Pleks was the one to lay that HUGE check sending Carolina fans behind the fence crazy before dashing to the goal. I never thought Pleks would lay that, but it was a great one anyway. Great game for him.

In the '04-'05 AHL All-Star game he won the fastest skater contest. He just seems to play better when theres not all that pressure put on him. When I think of Plecs scoring it's always one on one with the goalie and he roofs a backhand. I'm generalizing I know but that's his move.
