flames4eva
In a way im kind of happy this happenednow Latendresses hit on Dimaio does looks like a cheap shot afterall now doesnt it? Unlogical hab fans are hilarious, Latendresse "supposedly" lifts an elbow on dimaio and gets thrown out of the game, and the hab fans scream outrage Regehr legaly hits Downey, with his shoulder,2 second rule in play, no penalty, and the hab fans scream outrage it goes back to my point of, just because we hate the leafs, doesnt MEAN that they suck, altho i do want them to do bad lol, but some people have this mindset entirely out of whack I didn't like the hit by Lats but he got booted out of the game... didn't he. Please tell me where I can find an official reference to a two second rule.bw6

jigger-1
Yeah Aaron looked a little dazed there to say the least. Let's hope it's not too serious. Clean hit though.

Guest hatethoseleafs
One of the unfortunate parts of a physical game like hockey. All the best in your recovery Downey. Hope you healthy and back to doing what you love real soon.

If I may here....You shouldn't take Systemic Anomaly's words out of context like that. It's not really fair. If you read the rest of his post it's just part of what he's arguing. I'm sure he's not happy the guy got hurt.

Downey had already dumped the puck and no longer had it. Regehr would of had time to stop or at least slow down. Should of been a Charging call or an interference call. jigger-1
He had just gotten rid of the puck. Maybe a charge but he was following through on a play. It wasn't interference. You can finish a hit on a guy who just passed/dumped the puck.
Guest Gabe3
If a player just passed the puck at the same time that he got hit, then that's acceptable. But that wasn't the case yesterday. He had dumped it in, then Regehr ran into him a few seconds after the dump.
puckgrinder
Iv'e seen Aaron take harder Hits, Im sure he'll be OK. Does anyone have an actual update on his Condition? Need to Give my Wife an Update, she's all worried about him, they went to High school together. P.S. if Colby Armstrong's hit on whats his name was a Clean hit. so was this. From what I saw Aaron did not have his Head down, He was starting to brace for the First Player coming in to hit him, and was Blind sided by Ragere because he droped his head. Here a link to the hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwyqveE_fIM see the First player comming in for the hit, Thats why he droped his head
Guest Brando
....He had dumped it in, then Regehr ran into him a few seconds after the dump. ....which makes it a clean hit -you're allowed a bit of time after the opposing player gets rid of the puck to complete your check. It's a game of momentum - I like Downey and hopefully he recovers fully and quickly. But he was taken out by a clean hit, IMO.

I don't think anything else has been released on his condition.

At first sight I thought it was a clean hit too, but once I started watching it over and over again, that's when I realised how dumb Regehr was to have not slowed down, or stopped. jigger-1
It's a matter of which side of the fence you're on. If the opposite had happened you'd say Downey just played hard and finished his hit.

If the opposite had happened you'd say Downey just played hard and finished his hit. It doesn't matter which side of the fance I'm on. A player was injured and sent to the hospital due to a concusion, which is pretty serious. You usually get penalties for that kind of stuff, but the refs just let it slip. Rule 43 Attempt to Injure A match penalty shall be imposed on any player who deliberately attempts or who deliberately injures an opponent and the circumstances shall be reported to the Commissioner for further action. A substitute for the penalized player shall be permitted at the end of the fifth minute. A match penalty can be assessed for the following infractions: attempt to injure in any manner* (Rule 43) (* = match penalty must be assessed when injury results). Most players that go out to deliver a big hit usually do it to get his team going and get some momentum. Yes there are some occasions where players are out to injure other players, but IMO this isnt the case with this hit. Downey dumped the puck, rheger (sp) finished his check. 349340_1475251147
I dont have blinders on. If the situation was the other way around i would not find an excude to make it okay. Watch the video..the first time watch downey, the second and third time look for the puck to see where it is when he is hit. Its already passed the ref. Point being, its not cool!! He was still shaky and dazed trying to get up and i dont like seeing ANY player like that.

Should of been a Charging call or an interference call. As much as I love Downey and think the hit may of been a second late.. Regher is not a dirty player and I hope no one (I'm not saying you have) is accusing him of that.
jigger-1
Well, that's hockey. And if the hit were illegal there would've been a suspension today and you can bet Carbo would've said something. It's an unfortunate result of an extremely high level physical game.
